So, Alabama has a state holiday for Jefferson Davis' birthday? Where are the SJW's in that state? How has this continued?

Yes, but it's only a state holiday so it only applies to state offices, and not even all of them. I was in a state office in Birmingham this morning that was open.

We also made it illegal to remove statues last month.

No SJWs here

I think it's retarded that we've given him a state holiday and that there's high schools named after him, but I'm not complaining about a day off. They should either just rename the holiday, or give us an extra personal day.

I don't really celebrate any holiday. I just like having the days off.

It utterly and absolutely applies to ALL state offices. If you were in an office staffed by state employees, the people that work it are either getting overtime or comp time at a holiday rate.

There's a better solution than an extra personal day. I've got 30 years with the state. I've never worked the day after Thanksgiving and I've never had to use a leave day. Every single governor during my tenure has closed state offices that day.

Get rid of Confederate memorial day and Jefferson Davis' birthday and then make the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas eve official holidays. Saves the state money and doesn't hurt the employees either.

Since it is so simple, there's no way the legislature will ever do it.

That would still hurt employees. We're pretty much getting the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve every year. They are unofficial, official holidays. If you get rid of Confederate Memorial and JD's birthday, you are essentially taking away 2 days off for state employees.

Yup, feels a bit like the scene from "Grosse Point Blank" where they turn his mom's house into a convenience store.

Not really, they were leaning south but War of Northern Aggression meant the yankees were present early to secure natural assets in the state like horses and mules, hemp, lumber, coal, tobacco, alcohol, and other stuff needed to fight a war. Folks in the state were dispossessed and displaced just like the other southern states.
