It always happens every year at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Some geezer ex-hippie musician brags about how many years they've been sober.

Yeah, and ever since they gave up booze and drugs, their music has sucked.

What a bunch of bores.

I mean great for them, if they are living a healthy lifestyle, but nobody wants to hear how they can't handle partying anymore.

Alcohol =

Marijuana = ,

Whatever the subject, most people would be well served to talk about themselves less

Well to be fair, these are sometimes people who woke up with a line and shot of jameson and wiped a new strand of std off their dicks before playing in an arena. They partied harder than any of us. Dudes of the 80's were crazy.

That's pretty annoying, I'll give you that. It's not as bad as stoners talking about why weed should be legal though. They have the same speech prepared for everyone and will ramble it off the second anything close to the cops, government or weed gets brought up.

I want marijuana to be legal just so they'll shut up. Well, and because it would be super fun.

I imagine ppl who attend AA meetings would strongly disagree with you. It's not a subject to joke about.

Augusta, huh? I was there yesterday and the day before. I'm on the SC side of the Savannah, though.

You don't get it. How old are you?

Exactly.

OP, hopefully you never have to bear witness to a friend or loved one-whom you formally knew to be a great person-wither under the strangle hold of addiction.

What could he possibly not get? How cool it is to talk about how you don't drink anymore? There is nothing cool about being sober just like there is nothing cool about abusing drugs and alcohol. Cool people can handle things in moderation, they don't need to spend their time telling everyone how much better their life is now that they are sober.

There is a huge difference in just not drinking anymore and being sober. I hope you or anybody close to you never goes thru true addiction.

I know right? Because what could be more fun than interacting with an addict in the full throws of their addiction. Especially if you're their wife, child, good friend, or family member in general. How fricking boring to be able to have a functioning friend/family member that isn't fricked up all of the time.

Oh, I didn't know we were talking about "cool people."

Hopefully, you'll get the knod to sit at their lunch table next year in junior high.

Mature adults that have seen or experienced human suffering and tragedy whether in their own lives or in the lives of loved ones or friends, know and understand how great and important it is to celebrate the overcoming, conquering, or persevering through human suffering and tragedy.

No, and I get bored easily. I do get jealous though, esp when I have a hangover.

Obviously you've never had to deal with one.

Depends on the substance and if they have a steady supply.
