Any sliver of belief in god i was raised to have is slowly being destroyed.

All I see now in this religion is fear tactics. Nothing more.

I passed a church sign today that read "Worship or burn. The choice is yours alone". Is this a god or a damn dictator? Are you kidding me?

It's a choice you should take seriously. Learn what is a stake before you casually brush it aside.

He's a perfect God who demands perfection. He is as much a god of justice and judgement as he is a god of love.

In my experience, the answer to this question depends on who the asker wants to have control of their life.

And also, if your faith is taking serious hits because of a sign, you may want to ask yourself just on what footing your faith was to begin with.

This tends to happen as one grows older and becomes more educated.

I'm not totally opposed to there being a god; I just believe the gods depicted in major religious doctrines are a creation of man.

Sounds like a fun church...

But seriously, I think there is a distinction to be made between God and a church

Would a dictator sacrifice his son for the sins of the world? I think we lose the essence of the word of God thrrough man's interpretation...

What does church and religion have to do with god?

The logic displayed in your OP is the most severe intellectual disease on the planet.

Hopefully you're trolling.

If not, frick.

I wrote this yesterday in response to the majority of my facebook feed. Even men who I have loved and respected were making statements that were ludicrous. This is my true feelings on the matter, and I hope that I can restore your faith into what Christianity is actually about. People are human, dont put your faith in us, we will fail you. His message is independent of ours, for we twist and cajole, to gain what we can from an earthly world through his words. Rather than do what they say.

quote:

I am in no way surprised or shocked by any of the decisions by SCOTUS.

We cannot legislate morality. We cannot have the state do our job for us. If you want people to change, we must LOVE THEM WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST. We are to go and make followers of all men, not to use the state to force sin into hiding.

Emptiness is a promise, sin is just the proof.- Ryan Clark.

We have all chased things of the flesh, in place of Christ, to fill the emptiness inherent within us. We must show each and every individual how that emptiness can be healed through Him, and him alone. They are searching for love and fulfillment. Our souls are designed to communicate with God. He understands the groanings of the heart, because our hearts speak the same word. How can they turn to Christ and gain that fulfillment, when our reaction, however valid to sin it may be, pushes them away? We must draw them close, and let him change them. Our words are not enough, it must be our actions. Look to the victim's families in Charleston. Let their reaction to sin be our own.

So this is my challenge to all, for today, and the rest of our lives: Do not bicker, do not lament, do not wring your hands, do not whine, do not speak out of anger, and do not shun. React with grace and love, and watch how much we can change when the full weight of Christ's love is brought to bear upon the world.

After all.
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound. That saved a wretch like me!

If you get your religion, or idea of religion, from passing church signs, then I don't know what to tell you, except that there is a place with God for you, somewhere, and you should be encouraged to find it. God bless, and good luck.

Excellent Troll

A sign makes you doubt your Faith?

Pitifully small base of faith you had Chester.

Now if you had read that sign and laughed as you said, "Thank you, Big G-God. I am so happy you are not limited by what someone puts on a sign."

Then I would take you seriously. As it is, you are either a troll or an idiot.

Here is a sign for you:

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Signs like those are counterproductive and a gross misrepresentation of the meaning of the gospel.

I would bet every dollar I have that if Jesus were to walk past that sign, he would be the first to condemn it's message and reprimand those in that church.

You should read some of the stuff Paul wrote to the churches in the new testament. God's word is not shy about banging on churches that are missing the boat.

Holy shite guys. Blow me up why don't you. Nowhere in any shape or form did I say that the sign made me doubt.

As I get older, I notice contradictions. My mind is geared toward what makes sense. Not what I have to gather through faith. And right now, what makes sense is to me at the present time is said to be wrong by the majority of this board.

Its human nature to question what is real and what isn't. Nobody truly knows. Maybe you guys do. Maybe you don't. Science explains things that make more sense logically. And right now the each religion has gaping holes.

I can believe in God but not churches . Churches, the Bible. Those are man made. I don't believe a word. I believe there is a god. But we as a species have contorted his image.

Everyone , even atheists want to believe in life after death, and I'm no different.

Seriously, shoot me an email. I would love to try and answer any questions you have about Christianity or the Bible.
