someone gave me yesterday -- Prickly Pear?
Honest answer - forget it has the work Prick in the name.
Seems like a chick beer but a little more hard core than Bud Lime and that stuff

Actually not a bad way to describe it. Shiner is a darker beer, but you can definitely taste the fruit in Prickly Pear. I really like it, but its definitely more something you drink a few of when its hot outside. Not something I would want to slam a lot of.

I don't think it's "new", I could be wrong but I think it's just one of their seasonal beers on rotation.
I like it, it's kind of in the same vein as Ruby Red, definitely an outside in the summer type beer that you only have a couple of.
Oktoberfest & Bock are my shite though.

Tried it last month.
Not too bad, but not my favorite.

I've tried it. It's a chick beer, or for people who aren't really big beer fans.

Never tried that one back when I was still drinking. I preferred Shiner Blonde, Shiner Black Lager, and Shiner Klotsch. The Old 97 (I believe) they made for their 100 year anniversary was good, it was a throwback to the original recipe that started it all, was a very bitter heavy German type lager.

My little brother cleans out my dad's beer stock every time he comes over. He will drink any hard liquor, and beer. My dad bought a six pack to try around new years. He's been over about a dozen times since Christmas, and there is still 4 of those in the fridge.
I figure I won't bother to try it.

I wish I could find Shiner Bohemian Black Lager here on the regular. Only way I can get it here is when I buy the variety 12 pack.
Luckily Shiner is headed to Brewfest in Nashville this weekend

Prickly Pear and Ruby Redbird are both summertime beers by Shiner.
They are light and kind of sweet. So it's refreshing on a hot day. Best if consumed after doing some yard work. Seasonal. Not a bad replacement for iced tea. Wouldn't buy a keg of it tho...

Meh
I don't think any drink with a bit of a fruit taste is a "chick beer".
I wouldn't go into a bar here in Hawaii and tell some 6'6 350 Ib. Samoan he's drinking a "chick drink"

One of the beers in their anniversary collection was a Munich Style Helles Lager and it was excellent. The only other Shiner beer I like is their Amber Bock, because the rest are disgusting.

It's not new.
I can't recall a beer from Shiner that I didn't like.

Shiner also has this (new?) birthday beer that tastes like chocolate cake. Not really what I'm looking for in a beer.

I liked the Shiner FM 966 Farmhouse, which is seasonal, but we didn't get it in our area last year. I think it's a pretty good value for a Farmhouse.
