40+ killed in Michoacan, Mexico in shootout.

Kind of bizarre, because I hadn't heard much by way of news except from American sources. Granted, I didn't check too many, but you'd think this would be at the very least watercooler talk.
So, some of the family members think that it was extrajudicial murder and not a shootout.

You guys are letting the cop hate get in the way of some cop hate.
There's almost no way to deny this was a hit by the Mexican government in retaliation for an ambush the cartel pulled a few weeks back that killed 15 officers.
42 of 43 people killed were cartel members, which is less people than there were (cartel) weapons present, several of the bodies show signs of being beaten before death, and a few were killed execution style. All this on the heals of an AP investigation that revealed the last time this thing happened several of the dead were killed while in custody.
I'm not saying this cause I have an opinion either way, but it's blowing my mind this hasn't made it past a page yet.
