Breaks my heart. That cow had eleven children? I assume she did it for the welfare checks.

I used to be an investigator for DHS and some of the shite I saw was unreal. I mean there is some fonked up junk going on right in everyone's backyard. Unfortunately, I saw myself becoming very jaded/cynical/desensitized and got a new gig after a few years. People in that profession do not make near enough money. Although, I loved the actual job, never a dull moment, and I would go back but only as a supervisor.

I worked for DFCS on the foster care side, and it's unbelievable what people do to kids. As horrible as this is, it was a run of the mill thing at work. I think people that intentionally harm kids like this should be tried the same as someone who commits rape or murder.

Smart. I'm choosing the same - I don't need to ruin my day reading that.
I've seen too many kids who are completely screwed up by abusive and neglectful parents. Can this poor child ever have a normal life? Maybe. If she's removed and placed with a solid foster family, who will love and guide her. If she gets away from the influence of the abusers. If she gets counseling - probably a LOT of counseling. If she's surrounded by people who can show her another way to live and interact. But the system isn't on her side.
