I think he has a legit shot at being a starter for this team. Hear me out, I bet Lock has the vision, I bet Lock has better accuracy, I bet Lock has the better throw. But what he doesn't have Zanders does, and thats extending the play. A big reason for him struggling last year was the amount of pressure. We all agree after seeing that last year Mauk could have extended A LOT of those plays. If Zanders can learn to not be so wild, I think he's the best chance for next year.

Zanders froze during the plays he was in last season.

But its Lock now. No doubt about it.

1) Lock froze often. Who wouldnt behind that awful line that will most likely be worse this year.

2) I do think its still Lock, but Zanders will be right there waiting for games like what we saw last year, uga uconn florida

Oh, it wouldn't surprise me if they threw in a few packages for him, but Lock is definitely the starter. Heupel should be able to mold him like Bradford and Landry Jones.

Agree, I think Heupel was the best pick up as far as assistants go.

Lock is almost assuredly going to be the starter, but Zanders may get some packages and he needs to be ready to play.

I have never seen Zanders throw a pass in a game. Yet he's going to be the QB?

Backup QB the most popular dude on the team.

I don't know if Zanders has the arm or accuracy to supplant Lock. But the Heupal/OU way was that the best player coming out of camp started. He wasn't much for "blind faith," he had to see it in practice. So if Zanders wants to start, he better strap them up tight and prove he can do it.

I though Zanders should have gotten some playing time when Lock was struggling. Let's see what the guy can do.

Anythings possible. Maybe Zander works on his passing. Maybe he's a decent passer now. I don't think I've seen tthe kid throw a ball yet. Who knows. New staff, fresh outlook. Won't take away from Lock, but I think Odom is going in with clean slate this spring. That's good.

Watching Zanders in the spring game against the #1 defense he looked pretty decent throwing the ball. I think that he passes the ball better than Franklin and Brad Smith. He's not a scrambler, but more of a runner when he has to.

My worry is the o-line in a power running game when we have very light-in-the pocket linemen.(light in weight)

Smith maybe, but if he passes better than Franklin then he's a superstar.

JF was very underrated. Fantastic college QB. Very accurate and made good decisions with the ball.

Franklin before he tore up his shoulder was underrated. They didn't give adequate time to recover before playing him and he was never the same.

Agree, he played a great game in the CCG though.

That was there year right there. Steck fricked them in that game. The offense was there, the DC simply couldn't adjust or wouldn't adjust. They had the players. Yep, Franklin was damn good.

If he had a better arm I could agree.

Does anybody else remember that J. Franklin when he went to see the qb guru in Cali either before his junior or senior season and when somebody asked Mauk to go see him to work on his passing game he said that he had no reason to go see him. That's when I turned on Mauk.

Going to see a "guru" can be tricky; ask anyone that went to a golf pro and then saw their handicap go from a 5 to a 20.

I hope to God, you are not suggesting going back to Zone Blocking!
