While I agree with this I think Petrino would be insane to take the LSU job. The guy has shown clear issues in the past which have seemed to be kept in check while at Louisville. Hes now in the ACC there and has a shot at a national title. With his past history I think he needs to stay where he is until his contract runs out.

It would be hard, but David Shaw would make an excellent coach.

Mark Dantonio would also be solid, but it would only be short term

Sean Payton should be on the list to contact. He's a great coach. Even better offensive coach. And the Saints have major personnel issues. He may be available.

No Payton should be tier 2. He doesn't have any college experience lately.

Shaw is a west coast les, we would riot

Pete Carrol, Bill O'Brein and Lovie Smith didn't have any recent college experience. Weis failed in college, but I think Payton would thrive in the college game.

Pete is the only one really that had success. It could work.

I think Payton could recruit well based on his name in the state. I worry that a pro offense is too complicated for a college team. You have less practice time and the kids can't study as well on their own.

It could work but I think nfl guys belong on our 2nd tier search.

Payton stays in the NFL. Could see him taking over Dallas or Indy after this year.

Fedora from North Carolina I think is the more reasonable option. Great offensive mind. Wont cost an arm and a leg. I know LSU is "prestigious" and " can get almost any coach they want" but USCw and they did not get a huge name.

We shouldn't be going cheap. We had the highest paid staff. It's also why jimbo is a possibility we can pay. USC is in way more disarray than we are as far as admin. Also appears our boosters cucked King for good.
