How does this affect the players?? I assume they are free to go to any school they wish but scholarship wise how does it count towards schools who bring in UAB players?
They won 6 games this year. The roster has a couple of big WR's (6'3" or bigger) that have 2 years eligibility left.

I can tell you exactly whats going to happen, the NCAA is going to make a special exemption for the entire team to accept any scholarship and transfer immediately with the ability to play the following season.
The interesting part of this story is that the million or 2 they make yearly, usually from Bama, to be a practice dummy-warm up game, wasn't enough to help keep them solvent.
With the power 5 making the strong move to allow stipends I would expect more incidences like this in the future.

You can't understand how a few million dollars could help keep a small program up and running? Not that long ago a few million was half of Mizzou's annual TV contract. You're right, it's not much but it's enough to matter to a D2 or whatever UAB is.
