Thoughts/Predictions on DGB's draft stock

Despite the issues away from football, the guy is an elite athlete. Looks like he actually gained weight too. Have him listed 6'5 237 lbs. Talk about a beast of a receiver. If he runs a sub 4.5 40-dash, I think a team will definitely take a chance on him in the top 20 picks. Who knows, if you want risk vs. reward, a team could take a chance on him around 15 or so. On top of that, an AFC scout said he is the best WR he has seen since Calvin Johnson. Josh Gordon's situation definitely hurts DGB's situation, since it is a fresh topic. Idk... Complete mystery.

I go back and forth. I want him to get past all the shite and have a clean and productive career in the NFL. I just don't think he is very bright. I think he will be back in trouble.

I hear you. It sucks, because he was/is one of my favorite players. Talk about exciting to watch. I think him leaving had a tremendous impact on Maty this season. Obviously, his talent was second to none, but Maty and him were really good friends as well.

I think the Ray Rice deal hurts more than Gordon. If he can stay out of trouble whoever gets him will get a steal.

If Mike Mayock's statement is indictive of the sentiment of GM's in the NFL then a team like New England, Seattle, GB, or Indy will take him high and get stronger.
Coach him up and within a few years he will be the new Megatron

The smart GMs will look at each case individually and not be biased by recent events.
I'm rooting for DGB. I hope he's learned from being booted off Mizzou. Good sign that he had no problems while at OU.

He would be lucky to go to one of those teams. They seem to put people around players with mistake prone backgrounds that help them not make the same bad choices again.

From what I have heard DGB has interviewed well. He has the physical tools, if he can convince people that he can keep from flaming out I think he has a good shot at landing high in the draft.

If he does well, it certainly won't hurt Mizzou.
A lot of mock drafts have him getting picked up at 18 by the Chiefs. As a Chiefs fans, I would gladly take him. I think getting kicked off Mizzou really shocked him and realized he could piss millions away if he didn't straiten up. Throw in all the other suspensions and I think he will be a bit of a choir boy for the first couple seasons.

Below average route runner. At 237 lbs, is he explosive enough to separate from NFL corners.
A lack of discipline away from the field, and took a year off.
Someone will waste a first round pick, but he's a project and should be 3rd round. IMO

Yeah, he could hang out with Dwayne Bowe so he wouldn't get in any more trouble with the weed.

Everything I have read says he is the best overall receiver in the draft. His character off the field is what's in question. Best receiver to come out since Megatron. There is no question that the guy is going to be an absolute stud. The question is, can he stay out of trouble?

I think he will go late 1st to early 2nd.
Route running issues.
Can't pick up play books.
Unmatched natural talent.
Unique combination of size and speed/athleticism.
His strengths/weaknesses as I see them. I think without the weaknesses, which could all be fixable. and without the off the field issues he had, he would be a top 10 pick. Unfortunately he comes with those weaknesses. The name that comes to my mind as hurting DGB's chances is Aldon Smith. Give a guy that doesn't quite have his head screwed on straight that kind of money and you're asking for trouble.

DGB said he will announce OU and not mizzou on Sundays. Or maybe its Monday games?

Oh for sure. Hopefully the Chiefs snag him. It would be pretty sweet to have Maclin AND DGB as a 1,2 combo.

Everything I've read says he'll be the 4th or 5th wide receiver taken, late in the 1st or early in the 2nd.

I was speaking in terms of athleticism/talent. His issues off the field are what hurts him. Plus I said that before the combine. Didn't think Kevin White would perform as well has he did. Very solid draft for receivers! All in all, I hope my Chiefs snag him.

Raw talent? No question. But he did not fulfill that talent in college. As good as he is, whoever drafts him will have to look at him as a bit of development project. I predict it will take him a year or two to really show what he can do. That said, as a Chiefs fan, I would take a chance on him. The question is where in the draft? The 18th pick is too high for him, IMO. If the Chiefs can either trade down or pick up another late 1st or early 2nd pick, I would jump on the guy.
