My worry about Cleveland is subsiding abit too. May have been a little overrated?

Nice start to the season, but I would curb my enthusiasm some. Of course I hope they roll all season long and win the World Series, but it's a long ways until then, with plenty of pitfalls along the way. Not raining on any parade here, just old enough to remember and live through the 70's up to todays team. I remain optimistic but guarded due to the last 30 years of wandering in the wilderness (other than the glory of last year).

Baseball is like that. Plenty of ups and dowsn for every team with a 162 game schedule. IMO, that's why you have to celebrate the ups. Also, this team has been building momentum over the last two years. This is the third year of the uptick and is starting off like it could be the best. To me that totally justifies the optimism.

Dayton Moore has had more than his share of criticisms. Some were justified. By the same token you can see the care that has gone into constructing the starting 8, plus building and then retooling the pitching staff. I'd put up our bullpen against any other major league team. Our defense is excellent, and if we are hitting for 20% more power than last year (so far it's double), this team could easily go all the way.

It seemed Butler was declining. Maybe due to the direction the Royals were or are going with their lineups. Speed. Speed everywhere. That's just not Billy's game. He lost his power stroke and for a DH, that's a death sentence. Hot and cold hitter also. Don't get me wrong, he still is a bit above average hitter, and he can be dangerous, but there just is no comparison between Morales and Butler to this point. Morales has power from both sides of the plate, he can run really good for a big guy.

Yes, Morales is making it awful easy to forget about Butler. Real easy and love it cause I just never was a Butler fan anyway but here's to you Country Breakfast.

Oh yeh, owners of 1st place American League Central, KANSAS CITY ROYALS! 7-0 and counting. Detroit can't keep pace. Great timing playing the lowly Twins. We can put some distance between us and the Tigers.

Yesssssss

What do you guys think of Louis Coleman? I knew him growing up and saw him a few months ago when I went out to eat and he said he had gotten an offer to stay with the Royals organization. Last I heard he was being sent down to Omaha again.

Louis Coleman scares me the most out of our bullpen guys, but that's not really a dig at him, it's just that our bullpen is full of freakishly good cyborgs. I think in an average MLB bullpen Coleman would play a much larger role.

So who is going to get it tonight for the Twinks breaking Rios' hand?

I know we won't do it because it's not worth our starter getting tossed at the start of the game, but if it were me I'd plunk the lead-off man with a heater to start the game. Royals have been intentionally hit 4-5 times in my opinion and the last one on Rios was bush league. Other option is to bean Mauer or Dozier, their two best players.

I think you have to wait until later in the game. Don't want to risk your starting rotation. Maybe Herrera or David or Young should bean their best batter. Those three look like scrappers and you can afford to take a hit to the bullpen more than the starting rotation.

It has to be addressed. We can no longer afford for our batters to be hit. It's already resulted in a key player on the DL. Has to be answered. It's going to keep happening. Opposing pitchers are Trying to stay out of the middle of the plate causing most of the hit batters. Gonna have to force them to pitch different.

Bad lucking hitting night last night. Lots of solidly struck balls that went as outs. I like the way they are staying aggressive.

Let's get this series win today!

I'll own it. The thread I started was a disaster. Should have known better. Maybe the baseball gods will forgive me so we can start winning again.

Well that wasn't a great series vs the Twinkies, but the positive is that the last game it wasn't the offense who lost it for us. Also, the road trip was 4-2 which is great. Back to home and we'll look to right the ship vs the A's.

No hit batters yesterday? Didn't get to watch. Heard Vargas got roughed up. Wonder how B-Finn is doing in the minors. Think they bring him back up mid season as a starter or reliever? Hope he molds into a starter.
