Yeah, he's been a disappointment. Big City was supposed to be a power hitter. Where's the power?

I think people are overrating Grichuk. True, he has good power but he has very serious contact issues. If he played a full season he would rack up huge K numbers. I don't believe he's ever played 1B either.
The lineup is just pretty weak, but it was last year as well and we still won 90 games.

No he hasn't played 1st. But I'd bet he can learn it. Beyond that, I guess it depends on what kind of player you think Grichuk is as to whether or not he's being over rated. I think he's a better option at 1st if he can learn to play it. Plus it replaces a left handed bat with a right handed one. I think Grichuk is a better every day option than Reynolds.

I think they are pretty similar tbh. Grichuk is a better athlete though and he can still improve.

I'd be shocked if Grichuk played 1B.Heyward has been just as disapointing as Adams, and many already want to extend him.Adams did hit over .300 for much of last year.

Honestly I am more worried about stick figure Molina right now, weak hitting in general is a poor sign for this team.

Molina will be OK.Grichuk went yard tonight.I see him platooning with Jay all year as long as he hits.

Just homered today off Cueto no less.

Damnt this offense makes me think it's going to be a long season

Saw another with carp moving to 3 or 4. Dude just gets timely hits, and we don't gave that power hitter that otherwise justifies having to have one of those slots.
Holliday also hit pretty well as the 2 didn't he?

If Jay plays like he has basically has his whole career I don't see him platooning with anyone. I'm also a huge Jay fan though and constantly get in arguments with my buddies revolving around him. His catch the other day is a big reason why I love him. He had that odd stretch in the playoffs two years ago where he misjudged some balls, but in general I love the way he plays center. Honestly I'd like to see him get a shot at lead off if Carp continues to rake and adds a little power.

Adams is terrible. I wish his lack of intelligence was identified earlier in his development as something that would stand in the way of success at the major league level. Guy is Mongo from blazing saddles.
Rosie needs to do coke for a few months, drop some weight, and get his range of motion back. Guy probably can't even scratch his own back right now.
Wong needs to leave the leg press machine alone for awhile.
Walden is a walk machine. Apparently has a higher walk rate than Rosie did last year.
J-Hey is legit. Great addition. BUT he's a doubles hitter. Fact. Guy isn't a home run hitter. Never will be. Nope. Not gonna happen. He's an extremely gifted and athletic doubles hitter.
Not feeling as good about this team as I was all winter.
But got to love the starting ration, and the option of Marco if anyone hiccups.

Nice taken these last two series.
When do we swallow the loogie and realize that Heyward isn't going to be worth 100 million. Can't spend that kinda money on a corner outfielder if he's not going to be a legit power threat.
Heyward is really good. Would love to have him on the team for years. He's gonna be good for a long time. But it's just not a good financial decision to put that much money at a doubles hitting RF, especially when power is the major need on offense.

They aren't going to sign him. He's a good player, but we can't pay that kind of guy 20+M per year. If he were a true middle of the order run producer then sure, but he really isn't.

If it gets another WS, it can be lived with, I guess.
Seems like we keep letting players leave the organization without getting the right amount of compensation back.
Shelby should have been dealt 1-2 years ago.
He was defiant. Had to have a no-shake rule put on him. Wacha and Martinez have better measurables. It should have been an easy decision.
Miler should have been traded in a package to land us a legit, young position player of need, like a SS.

On that note about players leaving the org and not getting enough back -- how the hell do you let a left hander who throws 95 walk out of the organization for nothing more than cash considerations or a player to be named later.
Talking about Sam Freeman. Thought that was odd.

Mozeliak knows what he's doing.Seldom does a player leave the STL and thrive.Peralta had one of the highest WAR at his position last year. What SS would you trade Miller for?

But weren't we just saying how it's unethical for the Cards to continue to hold these guys back? I do agree though. Seems we could have gotten more.

Good to see my guy Matt Holliday performing well so far.
