I always assumed the "yinz" thing was made up bullshite from the Rant just like mayonnaise french fries (definitely a myth). However, I was talking to a fella on the river there and he referred to us as "yinz" in his full Southern accent.

Mind blown. Apparently "yinz" is a real thing amongst some people. Who knew

You sure it isn't "yunz" meaning you all or y'all?

I grew up in the Branson area, its definitely more rural and southern than the northern half of the state. If there were better places to work down there I would have never left, I love the scenery and privacy you get in the Ozarks.

Springfield is a great town. If it had a real airport, I'd live there.

Unfortunately for me, there's not a lot of jobs. I work in IT as a software developer, there's only 3 companies I know of that code in the language I have the most experience in.

What are the 3 companies? Have you thought about Jack Henry?

Jack Henry, Bass Pro, and O'Reillys are the 3 I know of. When I last looked, granted it was over a year ago, none had job openings. I need to check again, while I love KC, I do miss the Ozarks quite a bit.

Here in my part of SW MO it's "you'uns". It was explained to me to mean y'all + 1.

There are jobs in Springfield and Branson, you just have to accept a much lower pay rate than the state or national average.

JHA has 9 pages of openings just at the Springfield location. The Monett location has almost as many.

Sure, but cost of living is much lower here too.

Depending on the suburb, not a lot more.

But your overall point is correct. It's much cheaper for housing in Springfield than in St. Louis on average.

Killz, how is Big Cedar? We tried to book for Labor Day but we were too late. Dad-in-law sold the lakehouse and is now looking to buy a condo in them there parts.

A top 10 lodge. More than holds its own against any lodge in the entire country, especially when you consider the addition of Top of the Rock.

Absolutely incredible.

If you haven't been there, I'd make that your next vacation.

Yes. In my neck of the nape they pronounce it "yoo-inz", but it's definitely a real thing.

Are you serious. We stayed in cabin 572, otherwise known as the only house on the property. It's a nice three bedroom home that of course is decorated like the rest of lodge/cabins. It's at the very end of cabin row on the other side of the cove.

If you were really at Big Cedar, do you drive a kick arse tricked out truck with a razorback license plate on the front? The license plate is of a razorback's eyes and tusks staring straight forward. I saw that truck a couple of times.
