When asked if the rumor was true in dave matter's chat as to whether coach kul sent the defensive playbook to every sec school, the reply was

quote:

I've heard the rumor from multiple places but have not had anyone confirm on record. Would it surprise me? Not necessarily. Fans have asked for months why Odom didn't keep Kuligowski on staff. Trust me: It was never going to work between them. Never.

Thats as good as a cofirm from matter.

I'm not sure. I think Kul is POed royally, but he doesn't strike me as the complete douche bag who would do that.

The read and react style Missouri has right now... well that is the drizzling poo. Not bad at all for a team without any sort of major DL presence but horrible for you. Turn 'em loose and let those great D Lineman do what they do best.

That would be a real dick move.

Also probably hurt him in the future if he did that:

Not defending Coach Kul giving out the playbook. But Odom made it very clear he didn't want Kul while he was interviewing. So if I was Kul in that situation, it wasn't going to work. And that might not all be on Kul.

Would this be litigious?

Intellectual property?

What I have read as true is that Kul and Odom didn't speak last year. They reportedly sent communication through intermediaries. If that was because Kuligowski was pissed over being passed over by Pinkel for DC (likely true since he tentatively accepted a co-DC at Illinois before receiving a raise to stay), then I can see why Odom didn't want him around. Not communicating with your DC is a petty, squabbling parents in Pop Warner move.

The only way it's not on Kul is if Odom disrespected him by talking down to him as DC - and maybe he did, but I'd bet money the other way.

Has anyone here heard this rumor? It's the first I have.

Kul had a hard time dealing with the crisis of existence that he is a beta.

Getting a feel for Odom's character, I'd bet all the monies on Kul being a bitch about being passed over for DC, and not Barry instigating the riff with degrading behavior towards Kul.

If Kul sent the playbook out, I want it in the open. I don't want it to be a secret rumor.

A man needs to pay for actions like that. That is a major code breaker.

I believe it's called Jose Oquendoitis.

Inside laughed because I hadn't heard that before.

But I love Jose too much for that.

I think language has been his biggest barrier to becoming a head coach.

Eh, I was just fishing for a comparable.

Half the league is Latin, so I'm not sure if language is a barrier unless it's with his superiors (like the Harvard sounding John Mozeliak types). I do think Oquendo was exceptional at his job of working with players on their fielding and pretty good as a 3rd base coach.

You're right though on Kuligowski. Why some people who are uber-elite in one facet of their profession want to stretch beyond that late in their career is a mystery. It's like Charlie Lau or Jim Hanifan insisting on becoming a mediocre head coach instead of a Hall of Fame positional coach.

Odom does seem like an alpha. I'm just glad kul went to miami and not illini. Could have hurt us pretty bad in recruiting our area.

IF Kul sent out the playbook, I'd like that to be public. And I'd like Mizzou to go after him for it. That's intellectual property, and I'm certain a contract violation. It also speaks volumes to the kind of guy is really is.

Notice I started with IF... I'd be shocked if he did this. I didn't think he was that unethical or that big of a douche, even if he was pissed about being passed over. I go back to my original thoughts there - Pinkel had coached with him for 20 years, and passed him over more than once. There had to be a reason for that, likely that he was a fantastic position coach, but not a coordinator.

Setting fire to the program on the way out the door would be undermining Gary Pinkel's legacy after he greased the skids for CK's next job.

As previously stated, GP went over him twice when hiring DCs and no other coach gave him a job as a DC.

I can't imagine him doing this.

I really can't imagine Richt hiring him if he did (or anyone else hiring him for that matter)

which is why I can't imagine him doing this

Another good point. Mark Richt is, by all accounts, a fantastic human being. No way would he have hired someone who pulled a stunt like that. I can't see it.

I think this is just a rumor unless something concrete turns up. By all accounts Kul and Odom aren't sending one another Christmas cards and declaring their undying love for one another, but I don't think Kul would do something that under handed.

matter said he has heard from several places but has not had anyone confirm on record.

As a former member of the media, i can tell you this is a confirmed noncofirm. Matter has sources but no one can speak on record.

Then look at the second part of the statement where he says "trust me" , he's confirming.
