Some thoughts

OL is still hard to pencil in. Crawford's injury hurts an already inexperienced group.

RB looks good with Strong being eligible. Hopefully Ross can be the lead back we've been looking for.

WR has some intriguing pieces, but we need to have a few guys step up.

Defense looks really good. The line is ridiculously deep and talented. LB also has some good depth. Secondary looks strong as well, but that other CB spot will have to play well as they are going to see a lot of balls. Really the only questionable spot on that side of the ball. Love the safeties.

Having some dangerous returners will also make a big difference. Ross is elite and I believe Johnson has the ability to b me elite on punts. If not him the. Guys like Wingo and Hilton could excel there as well.

Can't argue with any of that.

Abeln makes me nervous. I know they say he's smart. I just saw him Mitch Hall level ineffective last year. Again, hopefully it was the coaching.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Biesel slide.

The good thing about the opposite side of Penton is I think all 3 are capable. Hopefully one takes advantage and separates from the others.

You're right about the DLine. I don't remember a line ever this deep. Frazier is a capable DE and he's our 3rd stringer.

Think we're better than last year just due to experience. Plus the drama/distraction that was Mauk is gone.

More options this year IMO. With better line play, I see the RB spot being stronger than last year.

Someone just has to step up this year. Hopefully the experience will lead to that. Some of these guys have been around long enough that it's time to put up or shut up. If guys like Brown and Moore don't get it done early, I'm ready to move on to the younger guys.

How this season will go is based solely on how improved the offensive line is and I hate that. I already know our defense is going to be amazing so hopefully it's not wasted.

Moore's hands are too inconsistent and he doesn't do enough of the little things to start in Andy Hill's room. Brown and Dilosa are my probable starters.

Oline: Getting a unit set and letting them learn to communicate would be my priority. I liked what Adams and Pendleton did when they finally got reps last year. Ablen had moments when he looked very good and moments when he was over matched. Entering the season knowing he is the man should provide urgency for him. JH is going to have to scheme accordingly with this group and that alone should make a difference over last year.

LB: Terez Hall may factor in at WLB before the end of fall camp. He has range and hips that Burkett and Lee don't.

Safety: Greg Taylor is going to factor in at SS. Sherrills owns FS but I don't think they will let Taylor sit behind him.

We are deep at safety. Really deep. Funny because we were thin as can be during the spring. The spot next to Sherrils is open and Taylor has a crack. I just think it will be Hilton. Also interesting to see who secures that NB role.

Henson isn't the line coach anymore. Thank goodness.

Depth at safety aside, the back end of the defense should be very good. Brown has consistently put good position groups together though out his career and RW is proving to be a good coach as well.

Taylor gives the staff a moment of pause with Hilton. Chris Black may have a tremendous season but Hilton has very good hands and makes plays on the ball when he got targets. I liked him better at safety when he was recruited but the need at WR is such that I wouldn't mind seeing him push Black in the slot.

Think Collins fits in here at all? Or would we have been better off investing a scholly on someone who might develop over 4 years?

Anyone think Odom will continue Pinkel's tradition of grooming the heir apparent ar QB with a series a game or half?

I must admit I was a little surprised to hear Odom mention Zanders a couple of times during Media Days.

He may have the idea but he also wants to remind everyone Zanders is the guy if Something happens to Lock. gotta make sure Zanders feels the love. Can't afford to lose him.

Huepel has a history of using 2 QBs. Both at OU and USU. though if Lock is anywhere close to what his recruiting hype was he won't sit much.

Honestly I have no idea on the WR. There is talent there, but no one who has solidified their spot IMO.

Collins, Floyd, Blair...anyone could establish themselves. I have confidence that wiBO will play the best ones.

Any WR added to the room in the last class is there because Hill thinks they can contribute. Collins playbook knowledge will be the only thing that should keep him from seeing the field this year.

I don't know about this. I was really excited when we got Ross (still am), but that's simmered a little bit when I heard that he is basically a bigger Ish Witter. I've heard he goes down if somebody taps him the wrong way. With an already shaky OL, that's not what we need! I hope they're wrong though.

I also think Strong might steal a few carries from Witter and Ross as the season goes on. Once he learns the playbook, he's got phenomenal natural talent. With that speed and that size, he could be something special.
