I know this is the (ahem) stereotype, but do you have any evidence of that? I see an awful lot of good black players playing for white coaches. Or is Travis Ford wearing black face when he recruits?

Because he's black? Has no Midwest ties whatsoever.

Phil Jackson (our shooters need the Zen master)
Pat Riley (knows how to cheat & get away with it)
Coach K (I mean he can only take so much before he dumps that shitty school)
Frank Haith (should have to come back and see what real fricking recruiting looks like)

I'm pretty sure Ford's success in STL is tied to Tate.

I don't think it's necessary to hire a black coach to recruit St. Louis. But if I've got two similar coaching candidates, I might value that.

That's quite an accusation.

This is irrelevant.

It's completely relevant and gets brought up all the time in regards to recruiting. I don't think it's the end all be all and actually like Keatts. It is relevant though. Does he want to use us as a stepping stone to get back to the east coast? Are his recruiting connections all where he is from? Those are all real questions our AD will be asking himself...

Tate is responsible for Goodwin, Gordon, and Thatch

Why no love for Crean, Bass?

Anyone on the board who thinks C. Martin is a solution needs to talk to Missouri State fans. Living down here in SWMO, definitely got a vibe from MSU fans that they were ready for Cuonzo to move on. And, he left the cupboard bare for the next coach. BARE.

Martin seems to find a new job when his best players from the previous regime run out of elgibility, IMO. What does Cal's roster look like?

I doubt that. He won the MVC his last year there. After he left MSU still had the reigning conference player of the year, that's hardly bare.
He did build his teams there with a lot of transfers, mostly jucos.

I think he has a defined ceiling. It's not a ceiling I like. He's coaching basketball at a basketball Mecca. He's coaching almost the Alabama of hoops. And not a lot to show for a decent tenure length there. He does have two conference championships. That's impressive. But his best tournament showing is a Sweet 16 at Indiana.

I think his ceiling here would be lower.

Just my opinion.

A coach not on your list is Randy Bennett St. Mary's coach. He is always going to be second fiddle to Gonzaga. Not enough resources to beat them. Coached a few years at SLU with Romar. Knows the area a little. His teams are competitive and he has won some tournament games. Solid coach who needs more resources

Bennett is like Few in that he has passed on multiple offers from bigger conference schools. I think he wants to stay in California.
