Are you looking for a certain win total? Are you looking for a certain finish in the SEC standings? A decent recruiting class?

.500 SEC record. That buys you 1 more season.

.500 for the season and some losses in which we're competitive.

Less than .500 for the season had better accompany some damned good reasons: A slew of injuries, an obvious increase in close games (even with a loss), increased attendance, good players being recruited, and other intangibles that show we're moving up.

In short, not only W/L record.

I think we need to be .500 + in conference play. One would assume with that record that our overall record would be nearing the 20 win mark. I would be okay with less depending on the extenuating circumstances as well. But 2 years from now we had better be back to the 20 win mark.

Improvement from the youngens. No specific win total. Something very bad would need to happen to fire our man Kim after y2.

I think they need to take a hard look at their strength and conditioning coach first and foremost.

We need to win all out of conference games, beat Illinois, and finish in top half of the conference.

A variety of factors. W/L, recruiting, SEC record, competitiveness of games, etc. I would be satisfied with a .500 record. Underclassmen definitely need to show improvement as well. Ultimately, Kim would have a 3rd year unless the team showed zero progress from this year.

Coach Deets is the real deal. He is supposed to be one of the best S&C coaches in the nation.

This was the physically weakest Mizzou bball team I have ever seen. They also faded badly in many second half losses. We can write it off as youth this year.

FYI, Deets went with MA to Arky. Think he left there last year though. Not sure what he is doing. Pandov followed FH to Tulsa. The current guy, Herring, is suppose to be good though. Good track record. This will be his first full off season with the team so we'll see what kind of transformation they show.

As for next year, I want to see a lot of improvement in everything.

This is one area that concerns me. I thought our stamina was questionable with how quickly players would get tired. I can see not putting on weight/muscle during the season, but they still seem to wear out quicker than usual.

.500 record, no less. Including OOC schedule.

If that happens. Then third year they should come close to a tournament bid, either NIT or NCAA.

I see our route playing out much like when Suitcase Mike went to Arky. Took time to recruit his players and develop some consistency.

1). Player retention
2). Player development
3). More exciting product on the floor --> increased attendance
4). Recruiting inroads, at least one top 150 player maybe?
5). .500ish W/L

6). No more losses to UMKC.

No one thing will be the deciding factor. For me, there are certain things that would be strikes against KA and I suppose if you put together enough strikes, well you get the picture.

Failing at any of those 6 things would be a strike against him. As for recruiting, I know it's a pipe dream, but for me personally, not landing Tatum is a strike against him. I would have counted it as a strike against Haith. Against MA. Against whomever. We have got to lock up the elite level talent when it does develop within the state.

Right.

Like for player retention, if we lose a player, Ok. If we lose two, you're at a D (unless one of those is Bello). If we lose 3, your seat is warm.

If we average in the 50s again next year, that's unacceptable.

If we are recruiting guys whose only offers are Emporia State, that's not acceptable.

It's kind of sad because it's going to be really tough for Kim to get this program moving in the right direction. And I think he's a good guy and a nice guy. And all he may be remembered for is being the worst coach in Mizzou history. And I don't think he deserves that.

I think he could have succeeded more if he followed MA even, much less Quin. I think his philosophies coupled with the state of the program are just going to lead to an impossible situation for him to correct in the amount of time he will be given. Hope I'm wrong because that means I'm watching good basketball again.
