Take notes Mizzou, Emory and others. This is how it's done.

Video of it happening

quote:

Ohio State Vice President Jay Kasey paid the protesters a visit shortly after the occupation began, with a message from the president. “Dr. Drake will never receive a list of demands and he will not negotiate with you,” Kasey calmly informed the group before moving on to the next part of his conversation, which included the university’s own list of demands.

quote:

“If you refuse to leave, then you will be charged with a student code of conduct violation,” Kasey said. “If you are here at 5:00 a.m. we will clear the building and you will be arrested.” He added, “We will give you the opportunity to go to jail for your beliefs.” “What do you mean by ‘clear the building?’” one of the stunned students asked. Kasey didn’t mince words: “Our police officers will physically pick you up and take you to a paddy wagon,” he answered. “The people who work in this building should be protected also.”

quote:

Kasey had little patience for it. “We told you, and all we can do is be honest with you. If you’re still here at 5:00, our current philosophy is, we are going to take you out — escort you out of the building and arrest you. You will be discharged from school also,” he noted. Confused, one of the students asked, “discharged as in…?” “Expelled,” Kasey answered flatly.

I feel unclean now.

That was well done. Safety should not be compromised.

Protests have the potential to erupt into violence.

Ohio State understands regular non protesting students, or people taking their children to a Homecoming parade, do not feel safe when protesters are around.

Mizzou issued a similar statement today as well. Can't let a few disrupt the education of thousands of other students. Nice to see schools starting to stand up and say enough is enough.

Mizzou situation served as a warning for other institutions. unfortunately, we didn't have that benefit.

I actually think most schools would have handled that situation quicker than tOSU. Letting them disrupt work and then trespass after hours until 5 am doesn't sound that impressive.

Well since this is happening at universities across the country since we enabled this type of behavior I am sure it would be easy to find an example of that if it were true. Unfortunately, it's not.

Saddest story I've ever heard, I didn't destroy the university's image, so your anger is misplaced.

At what other school were the students dumb enough to set up their protest in a building that is in use? Trying to compare situations that have very little similarities is a waste of time.

Cool

First links on a quick google search of your exact question. Why look for yourself though, let everyone else do the work to show you how smart you are.

LOL. I guess I overestimate the intelligence of college kids and school administrators.

The histrionics on display by some concerning a lot of this stuff is laughably pathetic.

Just stating facts.

Feel free to keep shitting on Mizzou and running out your anti Mizzou histrionics on a Mizzou board while repping Tennessee in your sig and avi.

Friend, Mizzou shite on us, not the other way around. I'm not running around throwing propaganda in either direction, but the blind homerism is awesome

Great example of the histrionics I was talking about earlier.

I already said I didnt like the way the University handled it but I guess I dont have enough outrage and or express unhappiness properly to satisfy your criteria for being properly outraged and unhappy. Which is kind of ironic given the situation being discussed.

So what will it take to make you happy comrade? Do I need to bash Mizzou at every turn? Call for heads to roll or else? How about maybe dropping my Mizzou fandom and become Tennessee fan? Block/interrupt next years homecoming parade?
