Because Mizzou is in the SEC we should have been rated in the 20's recruiting wise especially after the "13" and "14" seasons.

Teams usually see the recruiting bump two years after good seasons.

The 2015 class had an average star rating of 3.2. The only class rated higher was the 2010 class (3.3)

2016 dipped to 2.91 when two 3*players decommitted and 2017 was the first full cycle for the staff.

Just looking at the DB portion of the class, there are guys that are going to out perform their recruiting rating. The have length unlike any class brought in over the last 25 years and at worst were in the upper quarter of their respective talent pools.

Gillespie was 1st team all state in class 6A in Florida. He was rated a two star by rivals.

Petry and Bledsoe were all district MVPs in class 6A in Texas.

Sparks was second team all district in class 5A in Louisiana.

Ulmer was first team all state in Michigan Division 1.

Like I said, I think the class will be fine.

Oshea Clark: 1st team Class 6A Texas
Caleb Sampson: 1st team Class 2A Louisiana
Kobie Whiteside: Hon Men All State Class 6A Texas
Taylor Powell: Ark POTY
Isaiah Miller: 1st team all state Class 1A Florida
Chris Turner: Hon Men Class 5A Louisiana
Jamal Brooks: 2nd Team Class Class 6A Alabama
Aubrey Miller: Tenn POTY
Case Cook: 1st team Class AAAAA Georgia
DaRon Davis: After being 1st team RB in Class 3A in 2015, he moved to Lee Summit North and played on a bad team.

Every college player that plays at an FBS school should be a 1st team state player.

If Mizzou can't crack the top 30 in recruiting we're going to suffer a lot of 6 win seasons.

If you want assume that none of the players in this years class will develop and contribute, so be it.
How does my stating I don't believe this kind of recruiting class will get us to Atlanta lead you to that conclusion? Seems quite strange.

and I don't know what your point is from that either. Are you saying if this is our typical recruiting class we will get to Atlanta?

Show me one non blue blood program that consistently recruits like one or even close.
Kind of a silly question don't you think? You could just move the goalposts around on what's a blue blood and what's consistent and argue that forever.

How many blue blood programs recruit consistently?

Wait let's ask that in a non JQ way.

How many blue blood programs have not gone through significant down times? Regardless of who the coach was? Because they can get whoever they want no matter what staff they have? Cause the staff don't matter? Cause they be blue bloods?

MU's highest rated class the 2010 (3.3 ave star rating). 3 of 14 out of state players in that 2010 class that were 1st team all state.

This class has 8 of 18. That is the highest % MU has had since 2002 which is where the rivals data base stops.

Texas alone produces 350 FBS players/year and has 6 classes of Football. You have 132 first team all state slots available. By contrast Missouri produces about 24/year for the same # of 1st team slots. The staff dipped further into the upper 25% of the talent pool than any staff of GPs choosing in their first cycle.

Maybe I should change that to say SEC School.

Mizzou will never win the SEC with classes ranked in the 40's. That's not really debatable. If Mizzou wants to contend for a SEC Title they need to break into the top 30 at the very least.

We play 5-7 teams every year that out recruit us.

If we win 8 games, it will be a great year. And we will finish in the middle of the pack.

The difference between 30 and 50 is 1-2 stars. Look at how far Mizzou dropped when Petry dropped from a 4 star to a 3 star.

Really Mizzou probably needs to 20 classes to win the SEC.

You keep switching up what you are talking about.

You said it was possible for non blueblood schools to recruit at that level if they had a good enough recruiter.

Show me one.

What's the difference between the 25th class and the 45th?

Indiscernible. I have no idea why you guys get so hung up on stars. The truly elite prospects are easy to identify but after that it is a literal crapshoot.

Pinkel's 4 year average never cracked the top 30. He won 10 or more 5 times and bested 6 wins in well over half his seasons.

So the statement that if we don't recruit in the top 30 we can't win more than six is patently false of course. Not to mention just incredibly short sighted.

damn you can be thick.

miami out recruited everyone for like ten fifteen years. Oh wait, they are a blue blood right? blue blood city commuter school. but then they sucked. cause their blood turned red. Was weird. Now they are starting to recruit well again. cause their blood turned blue again. Scientists are all over this, hopefully we will have answers soon.

Stanford and Clemson have been all over the top 20 recruiting rankings for a good while. Cause they are bluebloods right?

Michigan State had a good run of top 20 rankings. Cause they are a blue blood commuter school in the garden district of Lansing Michigan with little competition except for maybe Michigan, ND, tOSU.

that's without thinking about it.

What color is Tenner's blood? Cause they recruit out the arse.

You can change it to whatever you want.

The original argument that COU made was that Odom didn't have his recruiting figured out yet added more 1st team all state talent from out of state in his first full cycle than GPs staff did at any point in 16 years. Two of those guys were rated at 2*s competing in two of the deepest football divisions in the country.

You think Odom does have his recruiting figured out? I don't. We can polish up the last two classes, but they aren't it.

Each of the schools you mention are in proximity to a recruiting base producing over 250 FBS players every year.

Missouri averages 24/year and Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Illinois combine for 123/year collectively.

They are also in proximity to a lot of fbs competetion.

This is a solid class that fills some needs but I don't see Pinkle's sprinkling of NFL talent in it. We are going to have to find that someplace or be happy with middle of the pack.

Next year Missouri has a good high school class. I think we are going to find out BO's ceiling sooner rather than later
