Shrooms are not in the same category as other drugs in many states. Less severe. He will be suspended for a few weeks and at worst the first half of the MSU game.

Meh.

Sterk's take on this has me intrigued. Odom certainly wants to be able to "rehabilitate" a guy with Howard's first step off the edge.To remove him from the program would be excessive IMO.

very.

Given the timing, anything more than a one game suspension would be excessive.

He will get to puke several times for his poor judgment along with whatever he pleads this down to.

That looks like a run a lot of bleachers and miss a game or two suspension. Not the end of the world but a learning moment for the youngster.

Dave Matter just said that if using, having in possession or selling mushrooms could be a felony and that could lead to dismissal from the team if convicted.

Why would anybody use that crap especially after reading about the kind of trip that mushrooms put you on? I just asked an old school hippie and burn-out who grew up listening to heavy metal and acid rock and he compared it to LSD and then smiled and said those were the good old days. He was a regular at Woodstock and probably doesn't know that the 60's are long gone.

I don't think he'll be booted, but what do I know.

Some offseason punishment and a suspension for Mo St seems about right to me.

These kids keep getting caught up with pot because these days no college student thinks it is abig deal. Since it is legal in several states and decriminalized in many others, the students from out of state smoke it at will because that's what it's like back home. I know Howard is from Missouri but when people are walking around campus smoking regurlarly.
These are confusing times for many of these young people. Pot is less of a taboo to college students these days than alcohol.
How many of us drank with no regard in the dorms back when? I do not want to see a kids future be thwarted for this kind of first offense. If he hit a girl, then gone. But not for weed and shrooms.

He's been charged with a felony. Hopefully he can plea down because if not, he's gone.

Also "heavy metal and acid rock" made me laugh.

He had more than pot.

I do agree with the sentiment though. To make it more confusing, and someone correct me if I'm wrong or if it has changed since I last looked, but marijuana has been decriminalized in the City of Columbia, where all you can get is the equivalent of a parking/speeding ticket. Again, as I understand it, the problem is that campus police are not part of the City system, but the State system.

And plead it down quickly. 2-3 months would actually be pretty fast to get it all resolved.

We would see MU athletes in the news a lot less if the campus and COMO police would get some training sessions in Lincoln, Lawrence, and Norman. Maybe Birmingham, Tallahassee, Gainesville, as well?

Or if players like Howard would just not be driving around in expired tags.

I do t really agree with drug laws, but it hard to get caught in Columbia with those types of drugs.

...the coach told all the players, "Yes, some laws and Mizzou AD rules are stupid. But if you can't follow them, you'll be kicked off the team and your scholarship will be revoked. Period. fricking period."

More or less the same rules parents lay down to their children....... Athletes at this level are spoiled.

Laws are laws, like them don't like them.

Howard tweet. Saying all the right/nice things. Have to wonder who composed "it".
