Said Lock would use more of the field.....he did.

Said we'd have less drops because Lock's balls are more catchable....we did.

Said Lock's ability to use the whole field would open up the running game...it did.

Lock's 2 TD passes were things of beauty. Only one ill advised throw that thankfully hit the turf. He can throw the ball equally well from various arm slots to throw around linemen.

Really excited about the future.

Yep, that was absolutely prophetic.

Now if only he would post about the Mauk situation...

BTW, reedus - do you see my avatar again? Apparently the site no longer accepts images from the hosting site I used. Had to use another one and update.

Throwing a catchable ball in a receivers catch radius does wonders....

Yup, it's amazing how everyone thought our receivers sucked. They were just asked to catch balls off target. Consistently off target. Maybe I'm reaching here, but if you are consistently accurate your WR are much more likely to "make a play" for you when the time comes.

We don't have a Julio Jones, but we do have guys that can get open and catch the ball. I thought the whole group responded well.

I was very pleased with the receivers today. Amazing the difference a well-thrown ball can make to their productivity. The entire team also played with a whole different level of focus and intensity. By far our best game this season. I see the team's identity finally taking shape - the future is bright!

All that...and the offense was dialed down today. Not a terrible idea for GP, but I believe Lock has a lot more in him.

We didn't try to push the ball down the field much, but we didn't have to. I'm excited to see where this can go.

I thought it was very smart of Pinkel to keep it simple and conservative. That lets Lock get comfortable. We didn't need anything more than what we did. And we didn't give anything away. Teams will watch film on Lock and see a poised, confident guy with a quick release, accurate placement and pretty throws. He's not much of a dual threat, but he doesn't need to be. He makes good decisions. He's young, but no real weaknesses that can't be coached.

Florida will be a huge test for him. And unless they have a let down after today's victory, I doubt we win that game. But Lock is good and going to be great before he's done here.

Florida is good, but CFB is so week to week. This is the same team that struggled with ECU and should have lost to UT. Barely got by Kentucky.

We just need to continue to play well. GP says it all the time, and he's right. It matters how we play. If we play a clean, efficient football game and execute we have a pretty good shot in just about any game. I expect to see a pretty good atmosphere next weekend as well.

An interesting game all around. Up until today many fans,(not here on this board)said the offense sucked and we should just deal with it the rest of the year. They said the line couldn't block, the backs were gimp, the receivers couldn't get open or catch, and the coaches couldn't call plays right.

Yet, every "could not" turned into a "could" yesterday for some reason.

The obvious...best game of the year to-date.

I've been very down on the OL thru the first 4 games. Saturday they started moving and finishing blocks. They played football. And for that I am thankful.

I think making the defense respect the entire field does wonders for your run game. I felt like when we played UCONN and UK they brought 6-7 guys every time with little fear of getting beat over the top. Mauk just isn't the passer Lock is, and the couple runs Mauk provides a game just don't cut it.

Consistent offense, that's what we saw today and honestly when the drives stalled I blamed the play calling, that first drive was just beyond conservative.

A healthy Boehm, healthyish Hansbrough, efficient QB, McNulty at guard all helped the run game.

Also Ish is starting to be much more decisive on his runs.

The whole team looked better because they had to respect the pass. Previous weeks they would plug run gaps and contain Ma uk from scrambling to make plays. That was the only way out offense had a prayer to move the ball.

This week the coaches are going to have to trust Lock and loosen the reigns to beat Florida.

I re watched the game. Hans is far from healthy. Came up limping nearly every play. I think he knows the team needs him and is gutting it out. My guess is if we had a viable alternative he would have sat out SC as well. Hopefully Witter continues to improve.

Also I don't believe our WR's magically learned to run routes. Mauk either couldn't see them or couldn't throw it to them.

Locks not a true dual threat but he did extend some drives with his feet. Still has to be respected

Have to remember it's his Senior season as well, the guy is literally playing his last football of his life.

It's sucks a lot he got hurt on the first play of the season, put a huge damper on a breakout season.

actually yes, many here on this board said exactly that, after the UK game last week, they were ready to run Ricker out of town w/ pitch forks, declared the Oline a disaster area, the receivers all incompetent all thumbs boobs, and the RB's all gimps(that last part is at least close).

and last sunday I told them all they were wrong, after I thought about the UK game all night, I realized it wasn't the case, the problem went deeper and we aren't just a couple of NFLers and a coach removed from the same Oline that won the East the last 2 years. The young receivers that all looked like dynamite on film aren't all idiots and the RBs, well, let's just say we'll figure that out when we get to it.

I told them this problem has been going on for a long time and we saw a lot of the same issues last year when our D basically carried us down the stretch. You can't have a hole in your offense the size of a truck because your QB can't work the middle of the field and have to throw out over half the play book. You can't have the entire offense frustrated because all the work they do to run the plays the coaches designed goes for naught 2 seconds after the snap and the QB starts dancing like a dervish, reverse spinning, running away from his receivers and looking to throw yet another hail mary.

Of course they didn't listen until some guy named mubobbee or something said the same thing, now he gets all the credit.. that's ok I don't really care about credit but maybe they'll realize they should listen to me now.

Don't know who mubobby is nor do I read his posts. Tigerboard right? That'd be the main reason I don't.

Anyone and everyone seen this coming. Not to take away from mubobby, but there really was.no where to go but up from Mauk. It was the most unconfident, flat, lost and weak offense I have seen in many years from a Mizzou team. It's like I said before, the QB play can put confidence in your offense because with a QB like Lock, he can put the ball where it needs to be. When an offense has no confidence in the QB's ability to deliver, it naturally drags the rest down.

They are playing up to Locks talent. As he progresses, so will the offense. Receivers will finish routes and catch more balls and give more effort. So will the Oline. If they know the QB can deliver, they give it extra effort to pass protect and it spills over to the run game. Everyone gains confidence. They have the talent. Now they have the leader.

I think Mizzous chances are good against Florida this week. I really do. A good practice will help that much more. These players are starting to believe. You could see it in saturdays game.
