Morrison's Snap Counts

Happy to see Morrison is doind some writing for RockM.
Couple of things stood out to me.
The 5 starters on the OL played every single snap.
Collins played exactly 1 snap, which, btw, was a 20+ yard reception.
Moore had 87 snaps. WTF?!?!? He is NOT JMac.
Black played 26 snaps. Oh, and had over 100 yards receiving in less than 1/3 the snaps as Moore. Hell, Culkin split out as a WR nearly as much as Black. Boggles my mind tbh.
Beckner played only slightly more than 1/2 the snaps as Hatley.
Based on his numbers, it appears we are best to stick with the 4-3.

Starters on OL generally play all the snaps. That's a good thing and we need it to continue.
You're right. WAY too much focus on Moore by the coaches and the QB.
I think we'll see TBJ get more snaps this week and Harold get less. Depth chart added an or at each position.
Tackle better, catch the fricking ball, and don't take back breaking PI penalties when you don't have to. Those things and we probably win that game.
Watch out Eastern Michigan...lol

In other words...if we had scored more points than them we would have won???

Of course, but we were moving the ball.
This isn't like last year where it was an accomplishment to gain positive yards on back to back plays.

282 passing yard (33rd)
180 rushing yards (57th)
Heupel type numbers, even with plenty of room for improvement.

Moore isn't even Jared Perry.
On the few times he targeted Hall and Mason, I wasn't terribly impressed with how they competed for the ball. Hill appears to have his work cut out for him.

The passing game showed signs that it could be solid this year.
There were 4-5 drops
Another 4-5 passes where Lock threw the ball to the hole in the zone
Another 4-5 deep passes that Lock needs to keep the ball in bounds, so that the WRs can have a chance competing for the ball.
It wasnt really like last year where the WRs and OL weren't open and could pass protect.

I understand the disappointment with Moore's drops but he was getting open all day. If he can cut down on the drops and keep getting that kind of separation he's going to have a big year.

This is what was said all year last year. His hands are what kept him from grading out higher as a recruit.
Getting separation has never been the issue for Moore. He impressed as a true Fr with his athleticism, but you have to finish the back end of the play for it to matter.

Get him some stickem for those gloves.

I'd wager the keys to my boat that Dilosa would come down with more than 8 balls on 23 targets......without stickem.
edit: and Dilosa is now the #2 on the chart for this week over Collins.

You are shitting me. Seriously. One snap? Hell, he was the player I was saying looked like a real threat in the passing game.

WV defense was weak, but itwasn't terrible. Every team we face in confrence play will have a better D.
That is the reason the OL looked better and WR's could get separation.

He is an upper classman. The drops aren't going away. He cannot catch under pressure. Most of his stats are during junk time when there is no pressure to make a play.
If he has a big year, the offense is still going to suck. The offense was MUCH more efficient on plays that did not involve a throw to J'mon.

Lucas and others struggled with drops prior to their senior years. Moore can work on his catching. The biggest issue I saw with the WRs was that that all seem to be body catchers. If they work on catching the ball with their hands the drops can be cured.

Lucas showed much more by year 3 than j'mon has to this point. J'mon getting lots of targets doesn't mean j'mon has some potential.

No, that's not true. WVU has a decent D, skewed by playing in the passrific Big 12.
They will be better than SC and UK.

WVU's run defense was ranked 3rd last year according to SP+/-
And they returned the top 3 DL. So it's possible that WVU will have about as good a rush defense as Mizzou will face this year.
