Just a completely gut feeling, but I think he's going to light it up this weekend to answer his critics. He might revert right back to old Maty the next week, but for some reason, I think he responds this week in a big way.

I think we will be better this weekend.

I think the playbook was held back a little the first three weeks. With Hansbrough coming back and the personal movement on the OL coupled with the way our D has played.

We will see. Maybe the demise of the Mizzou football program was slightly exaggerated.

I'm a huge Lock supporter and I just think Mauk gets it done this weekend. Might just be my black and gold goggles, but I think he comes out hitting WR's left and right. Wouldn't be surprised to see one fly too.

Kentucky fans are counting this game as a win.

I think we snap out of the funk.

I feel like you could be right. ON the road and ky is the favorite. I like our chances this week. ky acts like they have beat us once in the last 40 years. they have not.

they still suck and there fans are rudest ive run into while going to away games. for no good reason.

3 games in and I have no f'ing clue what to expect. At least we've had embarrassing wins so far this year instead of Indiana. I hope those young guys on the DLine can hold up against the bigger more talented offense they'll see this week.

It's pretty astonishing they think they can even talk football with anyone else, let alone compete

Watched the replay of 2013 Mizzou vs Georgia. Mauk depends heavy on his recievers. If the recievers get on track, Mauk probably lights it up. If not...

Also realised that 2013 game Dogs were ranked #7 Mizzou #25.

I gotta admit, my first thought was a pot reference too.

I hope you're right, reedus.

Last time Maty was in Kentucky....he threw for 5 TD's and we routed the Cats. I like his chances for a big rebound game.

What does the playbook being held back mean? Is it certain route combinations not being put on film? Is it we miraculously turn in to a down hill power football team with 21 personnel?

I have seen that we have held the playbook back in many posts with no real definition.

We are a spread team that utilize 3WR 1TE 1RB personnel. Route combinations don't change our zone blocking doesn't change because we are in SEC play.

I agree we win and I am hoping that Mauk plays infinitely better but that will come from execution and practice not us "opening up" our playbook

Having a running back be able to get more than -1 yards per carry would do a lot for Maty. Hopefully Hansbrough can open things up for the passing game. If not, send in Hunt to dumptruck some cats...he and Abbington are so much more physical than any back we have had in years.

It seems they are keeping the plays more "basic". They aren't holding much back, but they aren't running a lot of the fancier stuff either. Perhaps to work on execution?

The jet sweep we've only seen a couple of times. Same with the speed option. Haven't seen the pistol formation at all.

I think they'll go to more of this as the season progresses. Because the standard stuff isn't working.

I sure hope so. Mauk needs that personally.

SN: Walter Brady and Frazier will most likely abuse Kentucky's freshman right tackle.

I am anticipating charges brought against those young men because what they do to that kid is illegal in most states.

They've run the pistol quite a bit. It's been terribly ineffective.

I also don't buy they've been holding anything back. Our last two games have been too close to hold anything back. For those waiting to see the playbook open up, I think you'll see the exact opposite. I think they will cut it back and run their easiest plays to execute at least until we start showing some improvement.

now that's what Gary Pinkel would do, right there, stay basic, cut down mistakes, not try to get fancy, just play sound fundamentals.

who knows, it might even work.

as to those who would say "rebuilding year", well, the Defense is rebuilding and they aren't out there looking like incompetent fools. You have 3-4 Seniors with starting experience on the O line. You have QB, TE, RB and one WR with at least 2 years of playing time and two of them are Seniors. This isn't the NFL, if you need an entire squad of multiyear starting seniors at every single position to even look competent, you're going to be waiting a long long time.
