Barry Odom said juco signee Malik Young won't be at #Mizzou. Combo of eligibility clock and SEC rule. Will help him find a new school.

Thank goodness Brandon qualified. Hope that freshmen from Houston can play like he produces in the weight room!

He would have had 3 to play.

Need to land Thompson and Perkins in a big way.

Expected this. Still sucks.

Good thing is we have a ton of depth at DT.

Don't think that's correct. This from Matter's article on Young.
quote:

Young graduated from high school in Marietta, Ga., in 2013, then attended West Georgia Tech, but the school dropped its football program. Young resurfaced at Eastern Arizona College where he played the last two seasons and became a first-team NJCAA All-American in 2016. He was widely rated a three-star recruit coming out of junior college.

I don't think he enrolled soon enough to play in the 2015 season. I thought he took a RS during the 2015-16 school year, played his second (2016) with 3 to play when he got on campus.

Sucks either way.

Thompson and Trout would remedy that with Perkins as the icing on the cake.

I agree that those two recruits would make up for a lot. I think Perkins is just as big of need.

Right now MU is guaranteed to have to replace Howard, Logan, Young, Frazier, and Harold. If Beckner stays healthy I think he leaves early. Howard and Young definitely figured into the 2018 two deep. If you are a 2018 DLine recruit and you want to play early in the SEC, MU is as good of a place as anywhere to go. Others have mentioned Parker playing on offense so there could be no d line recruits currently committed.

So even though his first JUCO shut its FB program down before the 2013 season, the NCAA viewed that as a year of eligibility used. He played the 2015 and 16 seasons. SEC does not allow 1 year transfers unless its a grad transfer.

Thanks NCAA.

Why doesn't Odom contest the stay at Georgia Whatever U that dropped the program to the NCAA? years back the NCAA allowed Wichita State players to transfer, same with SMU when SMU got the death penalty and most recently when Alabama Birmingham program closed briefly, I am sure Odom knows this but with two D Line scholarship in his hand maybe he is thinking Thompson and Perkins.

Pretty sure BO and Mizzou were counting on getting a waiver for that year.

Florida was also was a finalist for him, so they would also have been counting on the same waiver.
