One Concerned Student 1950 member stops crowd from chanting "M-I-Z." Calls it a "traumatic" chant because a crowd once used it against them.
This is what you guys wanted, here you go.

I've been calling the MIZ chant racist for years now. I feel horrible that the Asians have to listen to that.

See, I think they'll take it too far and there will be a backlash. There already kind of is. That's the way these things go. Right now they're riding high. But in a few days the media will be gone, the football team will be playing football again - theoretically, and no one will be paying attention. People will be on to the next thing. And M-I-Z will be just fine.

Except for Mr. Wolfe who just had his livelihood ended by the same media we are expecting to wise up to these little shits.
Looking at Powermizzou it's already happening.
Players aren't doing media today, which is bullshite that they can create an international story, be thrust into that position, but are unable to speak on it as adults, the role they chose.
1950 group disregarding local media and only wanting to speak to people on a national scale.
Telling media not to film their prayer circles not to film their tent areas, didn't want media filming their presser
Stating now they want meetings with such and such and such.

Nobody will stop doing the MIZ chant.
That will happen right after Wolfe goes to speaker's circle and admits his white privilege.
In other words, it won't.

They created a perfect storm, and Wolfe had to resign because it would be impossible for him to continue to do his job at this point. The faculty wanted him gone, the students wanted him gone. He may not have done anything wrong, but he also did nothing to help himself. By not taking action, he inadvertently put Mizzou into a terrible situation full of negative publicity that was only going to get worse with the media coverage. Not to mention facing financial pressures should the football players refuse to play this weekend.
So, Wolfe fell on the sword. He would not have been able to effectively do his job anyway. And I'm sure there is a severance package for him. It may be under the table, but it's there.
His resignation took the wind out of their sails, in a way. Yes, they wanted it, but now what? They'll overreach, and will never get this much attention again. The wheels will keep turning.

One of the members of the ConcernedStudent1950 group said it had been yelled at them before and was traumatizing. If you've been in Columbia someone has probably yelled MIZ at you at some point.
Like I said. They'll overreach.

If they keep crying about things like our school cheer they are going to continue to lose any support they have. This is just stupid.

Which might not be a bad thing. Individuals like Butler, and groups like this - give them enough rope and stand back.
Racism is wrong in every form, and we should do all we can to prevent it. But mob mentality and witch hunts take things way too far, and are more harmful to reasonable, thoughtful dialogue about race than anything else. This fight can't be won by the extremes - reasonable people in the middle need to come up with the solutions.

Do we know if the dude started eating yet?

Well, he said his hunger strike was over. Not that I believe he would ever have carried it through anyway.

No, he implied that us guys wanted it here. So I was asking the OP who here wanted them to balk about M I Z. I honestly don't remember anyone here saying I hope they take away the M I Z.

It is always the reasonable people who get marginalized. This thing isn't over. With blood now in the water, the new paradigm shift is to learn to swim with the sharks.

I think the things that pissed me off the most were the things directed at white people. "White silence is violence." "White silence is compliance." This is not a "for" or "against" thing. It's nuanced. I'm very much against racism, but I certainly don't support all the tactics by today's activists. Yet they would label me racist because I don't like their ways. I think they alienate a lot of people who might support at least some of their positions.
You're probably right, it's probably not over. I just believe this little club will go too far and lose the support of reasonable people.

Meh, I don't give two shits what some whacko thinks of me. And that goes for the whackos on one side who would probably bark about me being a racist and the whackos on the other side that would probably bark about me being a SJW.
