What a hell of a guy. His attitude is second to none and good luck to him.

How much do CFL players earn? I caught a few games on ESPN2 last year.

Exactly....of all the guys that play for Mizzou this is the one guy I wanted to have a long NFL career.

Good question. But if there's one thing I do know about the league, it's growing really fast

Totally agree....he was a gamer, him and Josey both i wanted them to kill it in the NFL just if for nothing else their approach and mindset to everything....full of class and well spoken individuals.

Wish we could have a team full of these types of leaders every year,...all effort, no drama, no crazy taunting just class... when we dont have leaders like those two i think it shows up on the field.

CFL salaries are hard to track down. There's really no easily-understood salary scale. But 2017 minimum is $53,000 for starters, though practice squad and other bench-sitters can be as low as $32,000.

Stud quarterbacks can make $250k to 400k (only a couple do, though.)

Team average salary is $80,000, but the top dogs skew the "average" high.

But it should be noted that living in the livable cities of Canada is more expensive. Half of the teams in the CFL live in 5 months out of the year snow arse deep to a tall Inuit. The others are 4 and a half months of the same.

The games I saw on TV last year looked like they were well atended. I was surprised how much I liked watching CFL last year. I hope ESPN2 shows it again this year. I like that the field is wider and the end zones are 20 yards. And the Montreal team had badass uniforms.

Sounds like a pretty good living to me if you can endure the brutal winters. Probably make more up there than taking some other job. I think the season is over by October or November, so maybe some of those guys move back to the US in the winter. Seems like none of those players never even get a chance to make it to the NFL. Flutie and Moon are the only names I can think of that made it.

Yes, not many start in the CFL, then move to the NFL. Besides Flutie and Moon, Quarterbacks Jeff Garcia and Joe Thiesmann began their careers in the CFL.

There are more NFLers who end their careers up north. But even for good ex-NFL guys, it's also difficult to catch on due to the quota of non-Canucks allowed on each team.

ETA: As far as weather, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal are all farther south than here in Minnesota. And BC is milder, too. But, yeah, our winters can be a little cool some days.

EETA: As for the roster quota, a team may have 44 players. A minimum of 21 must be nationals (Canadians)

I had no idea about the roster quota. That is quite fascinating. I forgot about Garcia and Theisman. I would think a few of those guys might be good enough to play special teams or 2nd team in NFL, but I'm no scout. Do a lot of high schools and colleges in Canada play football?

I used to live 200 miles south of the MN border. The miserable winters there were why I left. Moved back to my home state last year. It snowed maybe 2 inches this winter. Seems like paradise now than where I was. I commend you for wanting to stay up there. It's not for me. Some guy on the Off Topic board tried to tell me MN winters are comparable to MO winters. Umm...no, not even close. It's often 10-20 degrees warmer down here in winter, which can be the difference between rain or a blizzard. I did enjoy my trip to Target Field in the summer though. Awesome park and mass transit.

That is true. Toronto is a very expensive place to live.

If Washington weighed 215 lbs he would stick in the league. He tends to catch a lot of balls with his pads as well but his speed and work ethic are elite.

Here is Washington's first TD

LINK

He turned the wrong way and let the ball get into his body, but it still counts.

Always liked LdWash.

I'll always remember that short screen he took for a 99 yard TD against, GA was it? Just burst out from the scrum and no one was going to catch him.

If he had bigger hands (surprisingly small ones given his size) he'd probably be more of a hands catcher and playing in the NFL.

Elite speed indeed.

You might be thinking of the SC game in 2013. He hit UGA up for a 69 yd TD in 2012. His game vs UGA in 2013 was arguably the best of his career but both TDs in that game were caught in the endzone.

Once he corralled the ball he was a threat to take it to the house, much like Moore.
