That high school team must have been lit with both Porters on the floor.

That step back fade away at his height cannot be defended. The rest of his game isn't anything like Olajuwon, but that step back fade away sure reminded me of him from the left side.

I know it's a highlight film but I liked his vision on the court and passing ability for a bigger man.

Official visit to Mizzou next Monday!??

Jontay told me two weeks ago reclassifying was still an option. Looks like he’s taking all the steps just in case.

Is it reasonable to think that that the decision to reclassify may be pushed if Tillmon goes elsewhere? To the same degree if with the existing 2 open scholarships we only fill one out of the potential Tillmon/Knox/Smith group.

I wouldn't worry about the scholarship numbers. If Jontay wants to reclassify you make it work. He would be a top 3-4 player based on the roster right now. I think he's better than Tilmon right now as well.

We have 3 spots anyway, right?

No as of today there are 2 open. If Tilmon, Knox, Smith, & Jontay all wanted to come to Mizzou I would bet that a couple current players transfer.

we can only have one more transfer without getting APR penalties. So I'm betting a couple more don't transfer out.

That's partially true. If players transfer in good academic standing and immediately enroll in another 4 year university, that doesn't negatively affect the APR score.

I honestly think we only end up filling two more spots. Tillmon and Jontay are my two guesses. But if we land Tillmon and Knox or Smith I could Jontay waiting.

no.

There are two points per player per school year. one for staying in school and one for having a gpa of at least 2.6.

You get to keep the one point if they transfer in good standing but not the other. Kind of a stupid system; kinda like the ncaa. the only reason we could afford three transfers this year is because Anderson & company kept their gpa's up. After this year the last of Haith's abysmal scores drop off and then we are not worried about it. Haith did his best to kill this program, aided by Alden.

This year we can only have one more transfer in good academic standing. Any more than that we get a post season ban.

They actually get 4 points per player per school year. 2 points for each semester (fall & spring)

There's all sorts of waivers in place, so as long as any transfer has good grades and transfers to another 4 year university, there is no negative impact. Both have to be true though to avoid losing those points.

Keep in mind that it says for each academic term i.e. Semester.

There's also a ton of waivers available, that's not mentioned in that article.

but if you look at the way they are calculating it in the chart they are subtracting one point for players in good standing that transfer.

There is also a quote from CM in the trib somewhere that says, as he understands it, that is how it's calculated and they can only have one more transfer this year.

It's not that simple. LINK

quote:

Where it gets fun is you can avoid losing a retention point if a player leaves with a 2.6 GPA and enrolls at another four-year institution (you get knocked back a bit if a player heads to junior college). You can also get a waiver for a student-athlete that signs a pro-contract.
