Steve Bieser would be solid. I don't see it happening but since taking over SEMO he has won 3 straight regular season OVC titles and they made their first appearance in 14 years in the tournament this year.

I give him credit for landing Scherzer and Crow. Outside of the years with them, he did nothing of note. Thank you for the years, best of luck with the future but I'm excited about the possibilities.

I think the true make up of MR is going to be made in this next year. It's hard to expect much in the first year. He's been here a year now. He's made a positive step IMO with TJ. Now he has to do the right thing with EE. Next up will be what he does with KA after this next season.

I think we can start by scratching some names off that just won't come here. No need to name the Houston coach...he's a Houston grad. No need to name Heefner at Dallas Baptist...he's not gonna leave better facilities, better program and better recruiting advantages for Mizzou.

You can add the obvious names that will be discussed. Vitello an asst at Arky and Mizzou grad. Bieser at SEMO would be a solid option with solid STL ties having coached at Vianney. We have always recruited STL solid in baseball and I'd like to lock down the KC area (which TJ completely neglected). Bieser may be able to do that with his high school ties. A SEMO grad but despite their better years the last 3, Mizzou and the SEC is still a step up. Hendrickson at SLU will be mentioned. He would be the 2nd coach at Mizzou to have coached at Central Missouri. At least this one has some D1 experience. Pretty piss poor season this last year though I believe without looking it up.

A little dated (2013), but Baseball America's top college coaches under 40 (I'm assuming we don't want another KA situation).

Have spoken to a couple former #Mizzou players who are strong advocates for Tony Vitelli to return to Columbia as the head coach.

Not Vitello... because Arkansas would like to keep him. But he's not a bad choice at all. You have some strong candidates for the job and I expect that with the influx of SEC money the Mizzou baseball program will expand quite a bit. You are, after all, a state that loves baseball. Hell, you are the state that loves baseball more then anyone else in the SEC.

At this point I'd say... go with a young could be great choice. Give him five or so years to build up the program with SEC money and then see how things are. You play in the toughest conference for baseball so a miracle turn around probably isn't in the offing. A young but talented coach given some time to build a team could make Missouri a very dangerous team.

Hell, your softball team made the #2 team in the country earn it before you got knocked out. Missouri has the potential to compete for a title in baseball.

It's going to be Vitello, I'm sure, and that is perfectly fine but we are going to have a hell of a time competing in this conference until the facilities are addressed and the fans start to show up.

With the right hire and the right facility investments, mizzou has a chance at relevancy. As with the other sports, after these 2 things, it starts with landing top in state recruits. The state's top players are on par with almost anyone. Build from there

Gabe with PM states that he heard a certain "major league player" has addressed the possibility of giving $20M toward building a new facility.

New coach...possible new ball yard. Things be lookin' up. Darn glad to hear some good news.

20M likely wouldn't build a brand new stadium. Alabama just spent 42M on a renovation, but pretty much a tear down and rebuild.

20M would be a great start though, and we desperately need a new facility or at least a complete renovation.

That player I think is scherzer but not sure it's his $$$ only. Also read he is a fan of Vitello. If it were me I'd make the donation contingent on the university matching it from whatever sources and putting $40M into the project.

The fans that need to show up are the local fans. No one is going to come in from either Stl or KC.

Precisely. But the AD needs to do a wayyyyy better job of marketing it, and facilities are in dire need of an upgrade. (The "upgrade" they did a couple years ago was a joke).

For the most part you are right. People do and can come from KC/STL and more will come if the program is winning but Columbia is not small. Mizzou does not have a small enrollment.

No reason to not have respectable attendance other than the University neglecting the program.
