To be awesome. There have been bounce back years in the past (2013) that give me hope. But, this is a new team, a new coach(s), and new competition. And I waiver a bit on expectations.

I think the South Carolina game will tell us a bit about what to expect, and may be the difference maker of a bowl game. But, it's also early enough that it might show us glimpses of what's to come during the season and also be a let down. Either way, it may be the most important game through the first half of the year. I haven't studied up on SC this year. How do you think we match up. I think there are question marks for both teams. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Too early???

I am wanting to believe. I'm making the trip to Columbia from California 3 times this fall to watch games. I hope I don't need a cup.

Even though Odom is a "true son" or whatever you want to call it since he played at Mizzou, I've felt since the day he was hired that he really is the one that's going to take us to the next level. No particular reason really, just a gut feeling by his demeanor and what he says. And the fact he's a defensive mind and somehow improved the offense that much in 1 year by associating himself with people who have more knowledge than him. The defense greatly regressed but Odom said he tried to do too much himself too quick, and I can believe that.

The USCe game will give us hope or a big ol' pause.

This is what impressed me as well.

The game is littered with defensive HCs who undermined their chances for success by imposing their (generally) conservative defensive philosphy on offense. Muschamp at Florida and Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay come to mind.

Hope Odom can get the defense turned around. It's going to be his watershed year.

Odom may very well have what it takes, with some experience and some good recruiting. If he can continue to keep good people around him I think he might keep Mizzou competing.

If we beat SCAR, I think the Auburn game will be the '17 version of the 2013 UGA game. That will be the game that makes everyone forget about 2015 (can't wait for this to happen)

If we lose to SCAR, I still wouldn't really know how to feel about it. I feel like the Gamecocks could either be pretty good or barely bowl eligible.

I agree. I think SC will be very beatable and should be a confidence boost. I'm also hearing that Auburn and UGA are way over rated. Can you imagine if we can pull off going down to Athens 5-0? Hell I'll even take 4-1. Tennessee and Arky are also teams that I'm hearing people say should have a down year. I have a good feeling about this team and I'm hoping they are drinking Odom's Kool-Aid.

I like us to win the SC game. I think Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Kentucky will be very tough games. I still like us at 8-4 or 9-3.
