It's a pretty embarrassing time to be a Mizzou fan anywhere, not just KC. That being said, the beakers in KC are loving it.

I guess I'm about done following college sports for a while. And anyone who calls me a Fairweather fan can go piss up a rope. Wake me up when this university grows a fricking back bone and gets some leadership. Out.

Let me introduce you to the Northwest Missouri State University. I'm sorry but you will have to put up with a lot winning. In football we just won our 5th National Championship. Men's basketball team is pretty good. Hell then dance team even wins National Championsips! You more then welcome to join Bearcat Nation

Hell Metro Sports in KC shows everything KU. And they have shown the KU-OU game like 400 times since it was played. We have no presence here. I think it is much worse since we joined the SEC. It has killed us in KC.

Prominent donating KC alumni were not happy about the move, I can tell you that much for certain. The BYU game and a couple Sprint Center games were supposed to help, but they didn't really. St. Louis didn't pick up the slack either.

Eh, to a certain extent. I went to 2 bball games at home and 0 football games on the road in the big12. I've now been to 4 sec road football games and 7ish home bball games. The SEC is just more enjoyable.

That is just the "new-ness" for alot of fans like yourself. Road game attendance is cool and all, but doesn't really help the University. Donations spiked, but decreased after the initial spike.
Aside from poor performance, bball attendance has been dismal by our standards, even in our 1st 2 SEC seasons when we still had respectable teams.
Football attendance spiked and fell below Big 12 numbers, even with the expansion.
The lack of rivalries is a big reason for some of this as well.

Glad I don't get Metro Sports anymore since I ditched Comcrap (comcast). They still do HS games and reports?
I have several friends who are KU BB fans. They say absolutely ziltch about Mizzou. They know they don't have much room to talk with the worst FB program in the NCAA. But if Mizzou FB bites the dust, look out.

2006 - 55k
2007 - 60k
2008 - 64.5
2009 - 64k
2010 - 61.5k
2011 - 62k
2012 - 67k
013 - 63.5k
2014 - 65.3k
2015 - 62k
And we had an awful product on the field this year.

2008 - 64.5 Good baseline for expectations (with decreased capacity)
2009 - 64k 8-5 year. Still good.
2010 - 61.5k Only 3 conference home games. and 3 Bad fcs schools.
2011 - 62k 8-5. Not terrible.
2012 - 67k -First SEC year. Expected
013 - 63.5k - Slightly down, but should be noted that capacity dropped by 4k this season before the expansion of the stadium. Pretty close to sold out.
2014 - 65.3k - Expansion in place.
2015 - 62k -Terrible season...but also the only one without a sell out since '06.
I should have been clear though. Of course numbers are higher now than when we were in football purgatory. But it is also important to judge based off of capacity as well.
Some of those numbers may say those things, but I went to every game this season, and some of them were not even close. MAYBE tickets sold, but definitely not attendance.

It was a miserable year for Missouri football. It might very well be a miserable year next. This is a miserable year, following a miserable year, for Missouri basketball.
Will it change? Well, to be honest, the worst thing happened to Arkansas sports was leaving the SWC. The Texas recruits and the easy in conference wins dried up and we went from being a team that had been a perennial top team squad to... well basically where we are now.
We left because the SWC was dying. Mizzou's history of rivals and games isn't from the Big 12, but from the Big 8. A conference that died when it absorbed the remains of the SWC. It stopped being a midwest/west conference and became a Texas and the rest conference.
So it will take some time to bounce back from that. Arkansas still isn't up to the national level it once enjoyed, but we have a lot of new rivals. Missouri will bounce back from leaving behind its old rivals and develop new ones, but it will take some time.
Would it be great if Arkansas played Texas every year? Sure. Would it be great if Mizzou played Kansas and Nebraska every year? You betcha.
Missouri will be fine in the SEC. Attendance was down last year but... well, y'all stunk last year. My first year on campus at Arkansas (Not very long after we left the SWC) we stunk on ice in football. My student tickets were for the nosebleed section but I could walk down till I was practically in the front row and find open seats.
You know, instead of BYU, maybe y'all should consider moving an SEC conference game to KC instead. Arkansas vs Missouri, given where the campuses are located, could probably draw a pretty decent crowd.

I could never get Metro Sports with Cox. What did you replace cable with?

Wasn't Arkansas good enough to make the SEC title game in 1995?What year did you leave the SWC?

That would be a fun game thrown in as a neutral site if the SEC goes to 9 games.
To the OP... It's been just peachy-keen on this side of the state. Ferguson, True Son Kroenke taking a Walmart sized shite on our civic pride in his relocation letter, and then of course losing the NFL for the second time in 30 years.
Add the Mizzou madness to our Old Country Buffet and it's been a great couple of years.
