Barnett and Puryear look like the only players that could get significant playing time on other D 1 teams.

I have only gotten to watch 5 games this year. Who am I missing that could help the new coach win in a couple of years??

Phillips has been the best player in SEC play.
He is averaging 11.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds. Give him some players that can finish better, he would be a good starter.
If Walton or Hughes can figure their shots out, they could be solid reserves.

CVL is shooting 39% from 3 in SEC play, that's fine on a team with real scoring options. And if CVL is playing less than 10 minutes a game.

Smith if he can get strong enough can be a key player starter or reserve.

Nikko can be a Rosburg type of player, good for 10-15 minutes a night. He does need to learn what Rosburg did and use angles to not get his shots blocked.

All those players can help, just none are or should be the best players on an above average SEC team.

Reed is better as a FR than Roseburg was as a JR

Mizzou has three pieces to work with: PG, SF, PF. Everything else can be replaced. Unfortunately, it looks like JB wont get to play with anyone else since he will be a senior and we dont have any spots available. Next season mizzou will be deepest at SG, issue with that? None are very good shooters.

Too many ? going into next year for any sort of turnaround. Smith and nikko are your 2 centers, none have shown they can take on the role as a FT starter. Same with SG. Also no depth at forward.

What do you mean no spots available? There are 13 scholarships available, Mizzou has 10 coming back. If CJ Roberts sticks with Mizzou, the new coach will have at least 2 more scholarships to use. My bet is at least 1 of those is a grad transfer.
Also because of the coaching change I bet 2-3 players currently here transfer.

I bet too, but until that happens im not going to count them.

Help me with available scholarships? We're losing 1 player, and gaining 1 player?

With as many close games as we've lost it's not a stretch to say that with a better coach this group could be middle of the pack in this league.

Phillips, Barnett and Puryear are all quality players. Walton is also coming along and has a better understanding of what he can and can't do.

New coach will need to add a couple shooters and a legit post threat.

If we hire the right coach, that can recruit, I don't think it's out of the question that we are back in postseason play by year 2.

He gone.

I think Suitcase will be gone as well. This will be a fun hire. I hope it stokes the "rival" fires between us.

You can add Illinois to that also.

Army won't fire MA. He's got a couple good recruiting classes lined up and they are still going to make the NIT likely.

The Illini and the Hogs may pay more for an Archie Miller or the best young coach out there. We need to shoot first.

Personally, I don't think much. If there was legit talent on this team it would have won more than 6 games despite the coaching. Just the talent alone could/should have beaten NC Central, Eastern Illinois and Lipscomb if it were all that good. I think the guys here can and will definitely have better results under a new coach but I don't think that it's all that some make it out to be.

Funny I have used that argument about all of the players that have transferred the last couple of years.

There's talent here, it's just supplemental talent not star talent.
In the right roles several could be really good. Phillips is an example. In high school he was great because he was surrounded by finishers.

If Mizzou can hire a coach that can recruit a couple of recruits instant impact players, next year can be an above .500 season.
