He helped Ohio State win a Natty last year as the OC before getting hired away to Houston and he has turned Houston around in a heartbeat this year. He could turn this shite show of an offense around!

I'd like a guy who has proven he can recruit up here in the Midwest/Northeast region. I'm sure he helped in snatching Ezekiel Elliot from us. It's going to be hard to recruit players from the deep south to turn away from the bigger name schools just to come all the way up here.

I know he is one of the hottest names out there right now and that there are a lot of other P5 schools looking for a new head coach, but I think we got a real chance to land him because Mack Rhoades our current AD hired him to come to Houston when he was still the AD down there. That's right, Rhoades has direct ties with Herman after hiring him away from Ohio State last year to come to Houston. Now that Mack Rhodes is our AD maybe we can get him to hire Herman a second time at Mizzou!

Tom Herman is a young promising coach and could have a good run up here at Mizzou. It won't come cheap though.

Get it done Mack!

Has a $2.5 mill buyout, so definitely not cheap.

That's exactly why you go for Herman. To get people to move past last week and become excited about next year. Our AD hired Herman at Houston so we may have the inside track.

Boosters better step up and fill the Brinks truck if they want to continue to have a football program with a pulse.

I would absolutely love this hire. Houston has been awful til this year and now that bad program is racking in 4 & 5 stars like never before. Throw money at the man!

I know I'll be excited! Would love to see what he can do in the SEC. South Carolina fans really want him too though.

I'm not a big fan of a former SEC coach like Petrino or Richt. I'd rather have an up and comer like Herman. like it has been pointed out, his offense beat the shite out of Bama in the NC game last year.

And you saw what he did to Vandy last week with much less talent than we have. not knocking houston but those arent even his recruits and he beat them by alot. imagine what he could do with our guys and coach Kul running the D. This could be huge.

Like the idea, but pipe dreams. We will do the usual Mizzou thing and hire Odom, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Mike Alden isn't our AD anymore.

I would be willing to bet Odom is at the top or near the top of the list. I see an in house hiring happening. No proof of it, just a gut feeling. I like the Herman idea though.

I like Odom but do we honestly hire a head coach with no head coaching experience?

Yeah a very risky thing to do. We have to make this next hire a good one or Mizzou will become another Vandy in the SEC real quick. The other problem I have with making Odom head coach is he is a defensive minded coach. Our offense is a dumpster fire right now. I think the worst thing we could do is hire a DC as our HC.

Would Herman view Mizzou as a stepping stone job or a destination?

Almost everyone would. Such is our plight.

Odom probably wouldn't though.

So what do you (and others) see as the pros and cons of a Tom Herman compared to a Barry Odom?

I'm hoping Odom views Mizzou the same as Kim Anderson does, his dream job.

Herman is the biggest name out there. He'd make a statement. He's an excellent recruiter and a great offensive coach. He's had a wonderful year with Houston and orchestrated a great turnaround. There are no cons really, aside from the possibility of him jumping after a few years and there is no guarantee that would happen. Just a possibility

In your opinion if Herman were hired do you think he could keep most of the defensive staff intact or would we be starting fresh there too?
