So it looks like LSU is really going to go through with it and fire him. LINK

He is the winningest coach in LSU history and won a Natty down there. I think it's a dumb move on LSU's part but I'm not complaining.

As the old saying goes "One man's trash is another man's treasure." What do you guys think?

If we're tired of the Henson offensiveness, I'm not sure Miles is a good pick. We might get better players in the long run, but the offense will look a lot like this year's.

Plus, you'd have to pay him $5M/yr for the pleasure of watching it.

I'll pass.

I think you Hire Miles with a 5 year game plan.

Recruiting is number one, if Miles can consistently recruit a top 15 class at Mizzou we could finally get to that next tier that Pinkel has been talking about.

Would the offense be great? Maybe not, but his problem has always been QBs and Lock is already here, so he just has to develop the talent around him.

I would love the move, I think it would really put a national spotlight on Mizzou and tell everyone we're serious about competing in the SEC.

After 5 years of Miles we get a solid up and coming coach to carry on what Pinkel/Miles have built.

Or we hire some MAC coach and get our asses kicked with the #12 SEC Class every year.

Did he recruit top 15-25 classes while at OSU? If he didn't there then I doubt he would do that at Mizzou

Miles is a much better known commodity than he was at OSU. That's what happens when you coach in the SEC and win a NC. Les could and would pull in top 20 recruiting classes. My main issue with this is his offense (as already mentioned) but would be well worth the gamble. He would keep us relevant and in the spotlight.

We know our recruiting needs to pick up and he would be an excellent choice for that alone. He would elevate our recruiting above what Pinkel has us at now, and if things ran smoothly, after the 5 years he could hand the batton off to someone with an SEC program in real good shape for the future.

I think Les is an above average coach and wouldn't be my first choice if we had more options, but in this particular moment, Les could be a game changer and homerun hire for a program fighting to stay relevant not only in the SEC, but nation wide. He would be a wise investment.

A slight uptick in recruiting is no guarantee of success. I agree just off of name brand he would "recruit better", but we should all know that doesn't neccesarily mean more wins. Pinkel vastly outperformed his recruiting rankings. Can Miles do that? I really doubt it.

He's too old. Seems to have lost his edge, and he isn't exactly known for fixing an offense which is our problem.

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole to be honest.

Like I said, at this moment in time, Les would be a wise investment. This is all based on our opinions, but I think recruiting would be more than a slight uptick, I think it would be significantly better and possibly lay our footprint into SEC territory even deeper.

I don't think he lost his edge at all, sometimes a guy just needs a change much like programs do. Again, he would not be my first choice with more options, but this hire is key for our program and I think Les would do far more good in elevating Mizzou.

The offense would continue to be stagnant but there would be a fairly good chance he builds up a horde of players for whoever takes over the program.

I say no. Based on something I've heard, there may be more to Les leaving LSU, assuming that happens, than just performance. Something medical. I'm not going to say more because I don't know if it's true, and the source isn't someone I know well - but he's not a liar or into spreading rumors. For his sake, I hope it's not true. But if so, he won't be coaching anymore.

Regardless, while I think he's a very good coach, and recruiter, he plays a very different style. To me, it would seem like we would take a few years to transition into his style of play and I'd rather see us choose someone who's a little better fit. I wouldn't be disappointed in a healthy Miles coaching Mizzou, but I think there are better, cheaper, fit-options.

Regardless of health issues, isn't he like almost 65 already? Isn't he like the same age as GP? I'll pass. Never thought much of him as a coach personally. Gets great talent but squanders it most years.

If it was health related I don't think it would be so back room cloak and dagger

Major speculation given that he has a gig as the HC at LSU

SEMO I think there is something else there as well but if it is health reasons why wouldn't he just retire? We can't afford him. He also had the luxury at OSU and LSU of recruiting Texas which we would not have. He would be a flop here and he is kind of a jerk.
