I would say my most frequent drink is whiskey ginger. Of course beer. Scotch if I am in the mood and I bought something decent. Bloody Mary on the weekend mornings. I like the occasional Mojito if it is hot outside.

I agree but only if you mean a good rye whiskey and ginger, something like Old Overholt and ginger ale. Bourbon sucks. Overrated. A quality rye whiskey blows the best bourbon out of the damn water. No contest.

What is your favorite scotch? What is your favorite budget scotch? My "go to" scotch is Macallan 12.

Considering it is likely to be less of a wild atmosphere on a Thursday night, take some time to see the campus. You can get a good feel for campus by taking a slightly zig-zagging walk from downtown to the stadium.
Start from Shakespeare's Pizza and head south on 9th Street where campus and downtown meet.
Pass through the Journalism school arch
en route to the quad (Columns and Jesse Hall).
Exit the quad on the south end back toward 9th street and take in the view of Memorial Union.
Then South through Speakers circle to the Student Center and book Store.
From there head west along Rollins past the South quad
into the heart of Greek Town and Take Richmond St. South until it dead ends. From there follow the sidewalks south between the dorms.
If it's near game time the flow of people will point you in the direction of the pedestrian tunnel under stadium drive to get to the stadium.
If you are doing it post-game, do this backwards.

No joke...bourbon sucks when compared to a high quality rye or a good scotch.
I just speak truths. That's all I do.

Nice!
Honestly, by "go to" budget scotch is something that most aficionados would frown upon but in reality is, in my opinion, the best scotch for the price, and that is Dewars White Label.

I don't think Johnny Walker black label is bad for the price + you can get it at any dive bar.

I agree that almost all BBQ in CoMo sucks, but Shiloh has great hickory smoked dry rub ribs, IMHO

Shotgun Pete's BBQ is awesome. All of my buddies, myself included, think it's the best BBQ in town.
-Harpos will be ridiculously packed on Thursday.
-Campus is a blast. Not the underage scene it used to be.
-Bengals, I stopped going there once I turned 21 lol
-Shiloh is cool too! Perhaps the best for a tourist. It's like a 50/50 mix of college kids and blacked-out parents.... Plus their patio is spacious.
-Penguin (piano bar) is the spot to migrate to around midnight.

Bottom line, it's sad but there just isn't any WOW BBQ in Columbia itself. IMO. But, BBQ is really subjective, and people will rarely agree on what's best.
Honestly, the best BBQ in Missouri is probably in Kansas City, but again, you won't find agreement. Just lots better options.
So are you going with a group? Or did I read that it was just you? Ok, edit - I see it's just you. You will find Missouri fans very welcoming and friendly. If I still lived there, I'd buy you a drink and take you to a tailgate! People will invite you to stop by, and be very hospitable. Just don't bring a cowbell.

Columbia BBQ is just mediocre at best. No way around it. But there's no shortage of good places to eat.

I actually do not own a cowbell.
I assumed that Columbia would have good bbq because of KC. I guess I was wrong about that. Thanks for the heads up.

Columbia BBQ is terrible (not joking). Springfield, MO and St. Louis have the state's best BBQ.

The one thing that I've heard from all SEC fans that have visited CoMo is how nice our fans are to them.

Overall though, Thursday games just suck. The atmosphere (at least pre and post game) won't be anywhere near what it is on a Saturday. The last one we had sucked. Of course it was a downpour and we blew a lead to lose to Nebraska, but still. They suck.
Ha! I was at that game. Can't believe that our last Thursday night was that long ago. Mizzou was up 12-0 in the 4th and Gabbert threw an INT to Sue. It all went down hill from there.
What made it worse was walking a mile down hill to the car in the mudd. My feet were so cold and wet that it felt like they swelled 10x.
I recommend to just pay for parking. If your going with a group then you can all pitch in the $25. Parking sucks in CoMo.
Also, I'm probably going to get shite for this but Shakespeare's Pizza is way over rated. It's not bad, but it's not as good as every one makes it out to be.

It's true. I guess that's what happens when you don't have any established rivals in a conference.
Any one know if we had some fun at the Pig's expense?
