Any must read threads for things I have to do? Or you guys/gals can just tell me if you are nice.

It's unfortunately a Thursday game so I am guessing I won't get the full gameday atmosphere. Should be a good time though.

Harpos is the best IMO, usually packed on gameday. College kids pack most bars anyway. Never had a thursday game, so I'm not sure how it will all be.

Shiloh's is nice for an older crowd. Booche's pool hall isn't my favorite, but alot of folks like it. Penguin (piano bar) is great for late night, and you'll need 2 forms of ID there.

Campus (Big 12) and Bengals are usually packed with under-21 crowd.

Trops is delicious for day drinking.

Basic Bar info: Bars close at 1. Almost all the best bars are downtown, which bumps right up next to campus. No open container or public intoxication laws, so no worries.

Harpos is EXTREMELY packed on Thursdays.

Penguin bar typically houses the away fans (awesome time anyway)

Shilohs - where the parents play.

Flat Branch -the nice but up-beat dinning location.

Big 12 sucks, avoid it.

Bengals sucks too.

PA: GO TO BROADWAY BAR, even if its for 1 drink.

no worries about the public intoxication, but open container is another story. Mizzou/campus/tailgating it is no problem, and even downtown i doubt anyone would bother you about an open container on game day. Illegal all other times.

I have never noticed that. I always see the most away fans at shiloh, bengals and harpos.

what? bengals is the bar minors seem to get into, big 12 not as much anymore. both bars are fun on gameday.

Broadway Brewery? why would you go there on a game day?

maybe not all the time, but for Bama, UGA, and Tenn they went to penguin. Hell bama fans had the band play "sweet home Alabama" every 5 songs.

Big 12 and a 32 Y/o? no. ( I just hate Bengals, frat central)

And Broadway bar is awesome, maybe not on gameday but the day before of day after.

Not illegal, bars just don't want responsibility. Missouri bars follow "by the drink" restrictions for permits, meaning it has to be drank on site. But definitely not illegal to carry around a beer you "brought from home".

Back to bar scenes, I assume this guy wants the "historical" or "touristy" bars. That'd be Harpos, Shiloh, Piano (Penguin), Big 12 (just know about the U-21 crowd, Bengals (U-21 crowd again).

Shakespeares pizza is actually in the building behind where it used to be. Booches is a bit difficult to see form the street, and is also closed on sundays.

Yelp isn't very accurate for COMO right now. Shotgun Pete's isn't very good IMO. Columbia BBQ in general isn't great. Buckinghams is the best. I also like Dickeys and Bandana's as well.

Smokin chicks is better than buckinghams, IMO. Or Lutz's of it's still there.

Eric, you're getting some good suggestions. Be are to try Shakespeare's pizza, Flat Branch ore Murry's for a good meal - try the fried green pepper rings.

Lots of Kentucky fans at Flat Branch last year.

Shotgun Petes - last time I was there, the ribs were solid fat. I'm not going back. My wife loves their smoked turkey.

Those are good suggestions for food by SemoT. Add Booche's for a burger. Shakespeare's is better than anything they say.

Harpo's will give you the most "Mizzou flavor" for a Thursday.

Pretty much everything has been hit already.

If it were me though, I'd hit Flat Branch for a pre game meal. They have very good food and their own brews on tap. Brooches if you just want a burger. Again, really good. BBQ scene in CoMo sucks. Plain and simple. Which is weird because KC and STL both have several GREAT BBQ joints. After the game I'd hit Harpo's. It's a good spot, and although I'm sure it will be cold they have a pretty cool rooftop bar as well.

Overall though, Thursday games just suck. The atmosphere (at least pre and post game) won't be anywhere near what it is on a Saturday. The last one we had sucked. Of course it was a downpour and we blew a lead to lose to Nebraska, but still. They suck.
