Porter brought about 10,000 to the arena. Complete failure for KA if/when he doesn't land porter. I lived with the excuse for Tatum that he didn't have enough time. No such excuse this time

Has Mizzou ever landed a top 10 recruit? Maybe Chevious, Peeler, or Smith could have been top 10 had they done recruiting rankings back then.

I think Mizzou has a better chance with Tillmon.

So you agree he's not coming.

Have we ever had a top 10 recruit whose dad was employed by the university?

Unless he just want to stay in Columbia probably not. I also won't ever judge a coach on a single recruit.
Starting next year KA has to start winning games. The following year be a tournament team. Then be a tournament contender most years after that. (That is a threat to make a deep run)

It's not a single recruit.

It's that he's not getting a single highly rated recruit from Missouri.

After Porter goes elsewhere, we will have had roughly 8 top 150 players in state go somewhere else in a row. And none to Mizzou.

Tournament or bust for me. He is getting a third year purely because we did not trust we could get anyone else to take the job. This is a debate that has been hashed and rehashed on here and no ones opinions will change.

With this being said, yes Porter likely will not come here. Mizzou fans go all out when they know a kid from Missouri is in town. Porter going elsewhere will fall on the hands of the team and coaches failures.

Well, that and I'm sure he's aware we get 3000 fans a game.

It's a never ending cycle. Team sucks so the fans don't support it. Teams sucks in part because the fans don't support it

Yea I just look at how it worked out for LSU getting Simmons.

At this point I just want wins to start rolling in.

Stiponovich and Peeler were top players in the state and country in their respective years.

Pure horse shite

The team sucks because.

A we have very little talent

B We have a shitty coach.

I would somewhat disagree with point A. I think we have plenty of raw talent on this team. It just has not been developed over two years. Gant and Wright should be two very solid building blocks with Phillips and Puryear as potential (college) stars. I feel like a good basketball coach would have had this team at 15-18 wins this year which would have been acceptable to me.

And we have those things in part because the fans don't show up. Which coach or player wants to play in front of a 3/4 empty gym.

Vicious cycle

I agree and disagree with this. Coaches know fans will come if they win. Coaches come for good structure up top, money, and an opportunity to win. Players on the other hand may just see one season and assume it would be a total lack of support. I believe a coach could get passed that knowing that if they were to build a winner the fan support would be there. Very few teams pack the stands even when they are having a horrible season.

Attendance has no baring on the way we are playing. We win, the crowds come.

Porter is not coming and the only thing that will make it worse is if he ends up at Kansas which I think he does.

Team sucks because of Kim Anderson. It's not rocket science.

I hate it when people tell me the "Oh, Frank Haith left the program in bad shape for poor ole Kim" excuse.

You'll never convince me that Frank Haith left this program in such bad shape that we were only capable of winning 6 P5 games in two years. That's 6 wins in 47 attempts and two of those were against Auburn.

I'm so sick and tired of these "True Son" bullshite hires because now we're stuck with the worst coach in the SEC two years running. Maybe if we hired oh, I don't know, a DECENT COACH THAT HAS ACTUALLY BEEN A HEAD COACH BEFORE AT THE D-1 LEVEL... we could bring excitement back into the program and get fans back in the seats. I don't give a shite if the guy is from Missouri. I don't care if the guy is from Kansas, Alaska, or if he's a little green man from Mars. If the guy has proven he can win games at this level, then hire him!

This is Missouri, goddammit. We rank 3rd in the SEC as a program in tournament appearances. We have one of the best basketball facilities in the SEC. The expectations here are to make the tourney every year. I should be getting ready to watch selection Sunday to see where Missouri will be seeded, but instead I'm here on Trant conversing with my fellow Mizzou fans on how we all get to watch Kim Anderson usher in another year of misery for Mizzou basketball. We will have another year of watching all the talent in Missouri go elsewhere, Missouri finishing at the bottom of the barrel in a mediocre basketball conference, and listening to Kim Anderson's cringe-inducing "coaching abilities" on the ESPN wired segment.

Average attendance for Mizzou basketball games as of January - 5,842.

We haven't had but one game over 10,000 during Anderson's tenure. And that's due to Kentucky fans coming to see their team here.

Largest attendance this year - 8800 for NC State. The problem is the product sucks. I went to the last home game of the year. And it's frankly worse in person than on TV.

I saw that. You're a brave man to go and see that in person.

If we want to get players like Porter sounds like we need to build a players dorm like KU.

Got to pay to play

My point was...it's pretty difficult to recruit an elite Missouri kid when he comes to Mizzou Arena and you can here a pin drop because the atmosphere is so awful. Then he takes a trip to Allen Fieldhouse or Cameron Indoor and well...you know

Where would you want to go play?

Now, I get that a lot of that is KA's fault and our program should be MUCH better than what it is but the fact still remains.

I don't expect fans to fill the arena to watch a shitty team but it becomes more difficult to improve upon that when no one shows up. Once you get to this point it becomes very hard to dig your way out. You have to win with under the radar types and the only way to do that is to let them develop into their JR/SR years.

The team will have 1 SR next year and he's a JUCO transfer who happens to be terrible.

Completely agree with this. Someone in another thread mentioned that the dorms/facilities don't measure up to some other shithole school that is going after Porter. Why is that? Isn't that what all this SEC Network money is supposed to help upgrade?
