That lineup could very easily push us over the edge to being a really good team if Benes where able to come in and produce.

Saw your other post about possibly hosting a regional. I think that's a pretty realistic outlook too. Winning the Bama/OM/UK all at home 2-1 in each series. Losing 1-2 at both Vandy and LSU isn't crazy. As it turns out, 3 of our last 4 OOC games are against solid competition as well. 2 against Mo State(who's currently ranked) and 1 against SEMO, who I think is projected to make post season play, would be quality wins and Miles has been throwing pretty solid in mid-week games. I thought he was decent, not great, against Illinois.

I hope we can host. It would be a really fun trip down to COMO for a scene like that.

Good start to the weekend. Mizzou beats Bama in game one, 4-3. McClain pitched 8.2. Had a 4-1 lead most of the night before a couple of late runs were added. Only 1 of the 3 were earned runs. 3 errors on the night by the Tigers. Hope they can squeak a double header in tomorrow. Supposed to be some weather moving in.

SC beat Vandy tonight. My math could be wrong, but I think with the Tigers win, that puts us .5 games back. In other words, even if Vandy wins their series 2-1 but Mizzou sweeps, we'd be tied for 1st in the east.

It's really hard to believe that that Vandy series could actually be meaningful. Who in the hell would have thought that to start the season?

Think may have just found an even better one.

.270 Peel 2b
.294 Ring CF
.270 Howard SS
.279 Lester 3b
.315 Bond RF
.302 Klages C
???? Benes DH
.259 Lavy 1B
.250 Harris LF

Shift them around a bit, but I like.

2nd AB a laser to left center. Almost got by the CF for extras. I'll take it though. 2 for 2. Unfortunately, no one else is hitting.

Son told me Vandy lost. If true, guess who's tied for 1st in the east?

Huge series coming up this weekend at Vandy. They have lost their last 2 series. Against Ole Miss and against SC. Could be a good sign or could be bad news. Either way, can't wait to see what the weekend bring. Would love it if Bond is healthy to play again now that Benes is swinging the bat and Klages has been solid filling in for Bond. Our depth with bats may had just gotten a bit deeper.

Another article on the Alton pitcher committed to Mizzou. 57 K's in 23 innings pitched. That's over 2 K's/inning. Crazy. He's gonna have to fall in the draft to come to Mizzou though.

If if if if he doesn't go pro and ends up at Mizzou, we could have an absolutely lights out rotation for the next 2-3 years. Houck is here another 2 years after this one. Same for De Oca if he can get control of his pitches. Add this kid to the rotation and you have a weekend starting rotation of all kids that were drafted coming out of high school in the 12 round or earlier.
