And people wonder why teams look for QB's taller than 6'

Those two gentlemen are going to do some damage in the cafeteria.

Adams should have been getting consistent reps last year. He looked better in pass protection as a RSFr than Chappell did at anypoint in his 5 years on campus.

There are times you can be too loyal as a coach.
Remember a couple of years ago when Brandon Allen was reinjured playing against y'all and Bielema left him out there even though Allen could barely move and couldn't throw the ball with any degree of accuracy?
Or when LSU lost a national title to Alabama in part because Miles refused to sub out his QB who was having the worst game of his career?
Loyalty to your players is a good thing, but it should have limits. If someone is banged up or not playing at a high enough level to be on the field you are doing them no favors by leaving them out there.

This isn't unique to GP but his staff always defaulted to upperclassmen. They did it with Chappell, Hall and Leftwich last year, They did it with Matt White in 2013....Had more upside on the bench and went with guys that "paid their dues'.

Its not a bad idea to put the upperclassmen on the field most of the time. They understand the system better, they tend to be more physically developed, and they have big game experience.
The problem is, like you say, when you defer to an upperclassmen even though a younger player behind him on the depth chart has a good deal more talent. Some players you need to get out on the field.

I would agree and it worked most seasons. That being said, Hall and Chappell were getting beat like hard-ons in the non con, just like 2014. Hall ended up on the bench after 3 games that season. Last year they left him in and it never worked.

I put this more on Ricker and Henson than on GP. Ultimately, it's GP's responsibility, but his OC and OL coach were making those calls on game day. Our OL should NEVER be as bad as they looked last year. Never. We should always be able to find enough big old Missouri farm boys that can block and protect the QB.

The one that concerns me is Abeln. He was getting beat as bad as Hall. I thought maybe because he is really a center but they have him right back at guard. Now I'm hoping it was Rickers scheme and not the fact he can't play guard at this level

I went down your way to Northwest Arkansas game last night. Ran into some rain once I crossed the border. Beautiful park. I'll be back.

Abeln is also a year bigger and stronger. Part of his problem last year was he just wasn't physical enough.
Still very concerned with the OL though.
We are paper thin and short on experience.

In an interview a couple weeks ago Abeln said that he had never played or practiced at guard until about 2 weeks before the first game last year.
Here's to hoping that an entire offseason practicing mainly at guard results in him being much better at the position.

Ablen had issues in pass pro early but improved in the second half of the season. He was a guy that needed to be left in the game so it would slow down and they bounced him, McNulty, and Crawford around. Just from a communication standpoint alone that isn't wise.
Just one example but they started Crawford vs UT and the offense did nothing in the first half. They let Ablen play in the second half and he graded out well.

Even more proof of incompetent coaching from Ricker and Henson was Boehm and McGovern may be starting in the NFL as rookies.

If you get a chance come and visit in the fall. You live in Missouri so you have an abundance of nice scenery up there but Northwest Arkansas looks really nice in the fall before it starts getting too cold and rainy.

What other tourist attractions are there? When is the interstate construction supposed to be done? What is being built behind Arvest Park?

I'll be down Parents Weekend. Got 3 in college now, one at Mizzou, one at MO St and now one at Arky.
Already found a couple breweries in Fayetteville. Fossil Cove has some good beers and good enchiladas. Apple Blossom is like a Granite City Brewery but better beers.
Arsaga's Depot is the place for breakfast.

Lets not kid ourselves. Right now NW Arkansas is a lot like Missouri. Arkansas is a good, and affordable, school. I am sure your kid will do just fine here and there are some real good opportunities in this area. And we are stocked full of local breweries. I live nearby one and well... I do not have to go very far to find quality drinks here.
As to the other poster asking questions... honestly I've been traveling back and forth between Fayetteville and where my folks live across the river from Memphis so much I've lost track. There have been some threads in the SECrant and the Arkansas boards about things to see and do while you are here.

Is the Bubba's BBQ or Razorback Pizza someplace near Bella Vista any good?
