And that Mizzou will get back to hauling 7-10 kids a year from Texas.

Baylor and TCU have been good for years now. Their head coaches are good. I don't think our recruiting in Texas has any effect on their success.

I think that the 2,0 Texas kid recruiting class will never be seen again. Sure, maybe not the 10+ every year like we used to, but we definitely refocused our resources down there.

Why are you arguing this? You keep your opinion, I'll keep mine. There is no point in bickering over this.

"With the rise of TCU and Baylor, creating 4 sustainably good programs in the state of Texas, did we get out at the right time?"

To answer your premise for this entire thread:

No. Missouri made its own fortune. Schools have always heavily recruited Texas, especially instate. We'd get more kids from Texas if we'd stayed in the Bevo 12, but we cared about moving to a conference that offered an even playing field free of the Whorns manipulation, equal and huge revenue sharing and abundant recruiting that has pulled ahead of Texas. Florida, Georgia and Tennessee are better than Texas. Florida has almost as much talent as Texas by itself, Georgia has a ton, and Tennessee touches Missouri and has good athletes.

I'm also convinced that just being in the SEC makes recruits from everywhere take notice of Mizzou.

This is a truism. Meaning, of course we would. Obviously if we were still in the B12 we would have gotten more than 0 recruits from Texas.

Wanting to get out of the B12 for those reason are very true and accurate -- but again, fluff, meaningless to the question.

Summary -- the southeast has fertile recruiting ground.

Another truism. More fluff that has not a thing to do with the question.

Undoubtably.

I see this year to be a very pivotal year in recruiting.

The state of Missouri might be the worst year for football talent in a generation. That puts more pressure on finding the talent outside the state.

With AJ Ricker and Barry Odom now on staff, I think we'll see more efforts in TX/OK. Ricker is originally from Texas and Odom is originally from OK.
