Updated florankings today too, but Wrasslin has an exciting matchup saturday against MAC rival Northern Iowa.

125- #14 Barlow McGhee vs #6 Dylan Peters- Should be a great matchup, and an excellent measuring stick to see where Barlow is. Very excited, and no clue who wins.

133- UR Synon or UR Jaydin vs #19 Josh Alber - Another good test in the lower weights. Should be interesting to see who Brian Smith sends out, and how they do.

141- UR Manley or UR Barnes vs UR Trevor Jauch - Jauch is a former Mizzou Tiger, transferred and is now starting. Another curious situation who steps out for Mizzou, against a former tiger.

149- #4 Mayes vs UR Gunnar Wolfsperger - There is word circulating that Mayes is thinking of cutting to 141, but shouldn't affect him for this dual.

157- #14 Lavalle or UR Lemanowicz vs Bryce Steiert - Does Lavalle make his debut or no?

165- #14 Daniel Lewis vs UR Taylor Berger or #3 Cooper Moore - Lewis dropped 4 spots in the rankings after getting pinned in the Lindenwood open...and has a potentially tough opponent in Moore, although Moore hasn't wrestled yet this year.

174- #4 Blaise Butler or UR Tim Miklus vs Drew Foster - We haven't seen Butler suit up yet, but they might just be getting the younger Miklus experience against inferior competition. Probably depends on how the dual is going as to who goes out.

184- #8 Willie Miklus vs Cody Caldwell - Willie should get a nice workout.

197- #2 J'den Cox vs Jared Bartel - Nothing special, just a MAC foe.

285- UR James Romero vs #6 Blaize Cabell - Limit the damage.

This is actually going to be alot closer than expected. We are going to need to bring our A game to escape with a victory.

125- Likely a decision, either way. toss up.
133- Toss Up.
141- Toss Up
149- Win.
157- Win if Lavalle, toss up if Lemanowicz.
165- Likely Loss if Moore wrestles.
174- Win likely, either way.
184- Win, need bonus points.
197- Win, need bonus points.
285- Loss, limit the damage.

4 wins, 5 toss ups, and a loss. Could be trouble if we don't win a toss up or two.

Thanks. I like to keep a positive outlook....especially when we have a perennial Top 10 team on campus. They don't get enough press or credit.

125-great test and would love to see him stay hot.
133-personall would like to see jaydin. Synon may improve but we've seen what we have in him. Jaydin's upside is so much higher.
141-think I'd like to see Mayes move back down. 1 weight or the other is going to be down so put Mayes where he has the best shot.
149-I don't know who that puts here if Mayes goes down.
157-as much as I worry about lavallee's style, he gives us a better chance than lemon.
165-I hope Moore wrestles so we get a better picture of what Lewis can do.
174-again would like to get a glimpse of butler
184-like to see Miklus pick up where he left off.
197-looking for a healthy cox to dominate this year.
285-just hope Romero shows improvement. These tough early matches could help by year end or next year

No. Eligible right away. Just has an injury of some sort right now. His twitter seems to confirm that with some cryptic tweets.

125 - So McGhee blew a decent lead and lost a decision but to a tough Peters.

133 - Synon wrestled instead of Jaydin. Synon didn't do much but did enough to get a quality win.

141 - Manley with what seems like a decent win.

149 - Mayes wins easily.

157 - Some guy I don't know at 157 got pinned by Steiert. Fortuna probably not ready as a freshman.

165 - DeLoach got embarrassed by Moore.

174 - Blaise looked really good. Got the fall.

184 - Miklus looked really good as well getting the fall.

197 - Cox looking meh so far. 2-2 so far.

Cox with a 7-2 decision, though seemed uninspired.

Romero seems thin and slow. Just getting abused. This weight is gonna be a liability all year. His opponent is solid but man Romero just gets toyed with.

Romero is an embarrassment more because he just quit than anything else. I'd almost just as soon not send anyone out there.

Mizzou takes the dual by the score of 24-19. Mizzou improves to 2-0 this season and wins its 30th consecutive dual.

Romero looks good on paper (HS stats). State champ, great HS win/loss record...but in New Mexico. Maybe not a wrestling hotbed, but he still looks absolutely awful.

I'm surprised that we're so weak at HWT.

125- Barlow looked like a legitimate national title contender for 2 periods. Dominated Peters. Then came the third. Got really lazy and showed no effort or drive. Didn't look too tired, just like he had already won...got hit with 2 stalling points and taken down. Such a disappointing finish after getting 2 first period takedowns.

133- I'm a bit confused by the redshirts this year, but maybe they are trying to keep the studs together. Synon wrestled smart, although looked passive at times. Did what he had to and got a W. No complaints.

141- Manley looked really focused, which is great. Hit an amazing superduck for a critical takedown. Showing us a bit of his talent that had been missing for awhile. Another solid win.

149-Mayes looked ok. Got a few of his blast doubles, but never looked particularly interested in being offensive. Didn't have to do much on defense, which is where he might struggle at 149. Decent win, although I wish he would have pushed for a bonus point. Could have cost us.

157- Fortuna got the start. Got killed. can't expect much out of a true frosh, but man, it looks like this weight will be a real liability. Trying to get some more info on the Lavalle situation, but everyone is staying pretty quiet.

165- DeLoach got the start. Not sure if it Lewis missed weight or just wanted to dodge Moore for as long a possible. Did well not to get pinned, which is about all you ask for out of a freshman who isn't a starter going against a #3 ranked kid.

174-Blaise looked pretty darn good. Probably won't be on top much this season, giving up a few pounds. But on his feet he looked pretty solid. Probably a little amped for his debut, but left himself vulnerable multiple times,. In the end, he came up big, garnering a couple extra bonus points with the 3rd period fall. Needed it too after momentum had swung.

184- Willie had a personal vendetta, and absolutely came to dominate. Knew his opponent in HS, and alot of the crowd were making jabs at him, calling him a traitor and such. Got a bit overzealous with his celebration, which could have cost us, but hey, getting a big pin warrents it.

197- J'Den did not look as comfortable as he usually does. He got taken down in the 1st and didn't really take control until the 3rd. Got a decision against a decent kid, but has to work on his defense if he is going to win another title.

285- Romero won't have a winning record this season. Didn't defend a single shot. Got taken down every single time. Will be a liability all year long.

Overall- Dissapointed in Barlow and J'den. Pretty happy with Manley, Synon, Baise and Miklus. Meh on Mayes. Manley and Synon winning their matches were critical, as we would have lost if either of them lost. Willie and Blaise also get credit for going and getting falls and putting it away. If they don't get those 5 (blaise already had a major) additional points, their heavy could have gone for a pin and the win.

Refs were very quick to hit us with stalling, and not so much UNI, but we didn't look like we wanted to be aggressive at all. Lots of work to do.
