The Contractors Mizzou hired to preform this renovation definitely screwed Mizzou. Apparently $4million dollars can't even buy a green baseball field. Also the plans look nothing like the final design purposed.

Plan for Renovations:

The pic in that planned renovation looks cool. I like that M I Z Z O U and that brick.

The ball park looks like shite, it's a joke. Get some brick in there, add some character. Those tin bleachers they added on the 3rd base side look terrible.

That said, you can't blame the grass on anybody. It's just not possible with the weather right now.

I don't understand the point of the renovations at all it actually looks worse than before. At this point it just needs to be nuked, and start from scratch. Also why do we have a piece of artificial green grass behind home plate, it makes the entire field look hideous.

I agree, it does look worse. I'm not sure where the 4 million went. (I wonder if some of that was for the new clubhouse, which we wouldn't be able to see in those pics).

Having a nice little character filled ballpark with plenty of brick would seem like the easiest thing to build on campus. For the life of me I don't get why we don't have a cool little ballpark.

These pics make me even more nervous about the additions to Faurot. The hill needed to be moved in, but for the extreme cost they didn't move it in enough. They should have scrapped the track.

Seeing some of the images of the new luxury boxes, with the white couches and the strange noise deflectors that don't cover the entire upper deck, I'm worried that Alden's lack of taste will rub off on the stadium.

Isn't the building down the left field line supposed to be the new clubhouse.

This is a better picture of what was suppose to happen, and again nothing like the purposed plan

Purposed pic looks awesome, real life looks absolutely terrible, it doesn't even look like it fits. It looks like 4 different companies each added a little bit to the project.

If I donated money that was supposed to go to this project I'd want some answers.

Precisely why Mizzou fans can't get behind the Mizzou baseball program no coverage for the games on T.V. or radio, no support from the athletic department, and taking shortcuts on renovations.

At least there is hope for the Royals this season, and even though they have one of the cheapest owners in all of the major sports they do have one of the most amazing ballparks to watch a game.

Is there any difference in capacity as built versus planned?

The proposed pic looks nice, but it looks like they added seating instead of the brick wall/Mizzou lettering. It doesn't look as nice, but if the capacity is higher that may not be a bad thing.

I believe somewhere it said only 600 seats were added along the left field line.

Yeah, I did notice that too.

If that was the case I wish they built what they proposed with bleachers above it, wrapping around from the existing bleachers.

Or reverse, with the bleachers at field level.

A lot of things went wrong with this renovation. First thing I noticed was the addition of the awful bleacher seating, why couldn't they do chairs with backs like the rest of the stadium? Second in the renderings it shows dirt base paths being added, and it appears we're still stuck with shitty grass base paths. By not adding the brick wall it screwed up a lot of things. The patio seating above the brick wall would have been immensely better. They needed the cosmetic updates to make the field look better especially considering there is no outfield seating. Also why didn't they put the SEC logo on the clubhouse? They should have waited for the funds to become available if they were going to cut this many corners.

I don't think that much if any of it was going to be noticed by fans. My understanding is that a majority of it was for the clubhouse/offices. The players no longer need to walk across the football field to get to the field. I think there's an indoor hitting facility now connected to the stadium. The players amenities are supposed to be pretty damn nice. All things you aren't going to see from that pic.

Having said that, the field and the stadium is a joke. We've talked about it before and I'm not sure where you put it, but they just need a whole new stadium. It's near impossible to do much with the current stadium with how it is crammed in between everything else.

As for the grass, get rid of the artificial stuff. Looks bad. The grass itself, remember, it was covered in snow not much more than a week ago. Kind of hard for anything to turn green in this weather. Even when the snow melted, I'm sure that field was just saturated. Hard to work on, if at all.

that looks awful.

They might as well quit wasting the money and fold the baseball program if they aren't going to take it seriously. We need a men's soccer team anyways, there's an absurd amount of in state talent for that.

Are those not chairs being installed in that new section down the left field line?

That is true. We definitely need a men's soccer team. The in state talent for soccer is unreal.

Not sure if it's chairs or bench seating, but apparently the construction isn't done and probably won't be done until the season is almost over. Still bottom of the barrel in the SEC if you ask me.
