Unfortunately the defense took a comparable step backward.

28th to 101st in DFEI

I'm betting all the JUCO beef they added along the DLine brings the defense back to respectability. Hopefully Odom and Heupel take a more clock-minded approach, situationally, this year to work clock and give the defense a breather.

Dave Matter was beating the drum all year to slow play the first set of downs so any three-and-outs would at least give the D a couple of minutes to recoup and I agree.

I think if Odom learns from his growing pains we're going to be an East darkhorse.

I don't think they are going to slow the offense down at all. Heupel can put a lot of vertical pressure on the edge of a defense with two deep at WR. Brown has to be hungry after having a poor sophomore season and having to RS last year. The other WRs on the two deep should only improve with another off season under the guidance of Hill. The WRs were still making a lot of mistakes adjusting their hands to ball placement.

You're probably right, but I still wouldn't mind them slowing down until they get their first down or to run clock at the end of a game. Not doing so cost Odom the Georgia game.
