More talent. Better coaching (at this point). Better recruiting. Better fan support at games. What else is there?

That's a different statement than saying that NEXT YEAR which program is in a better spot. I also assume you believe KA will have us in the NCAA tourney by year 4? And finish 2nd in the SEC by year 4? And have us in the finals of the SEC tournament by year 4? Hope that's the case. Time will tell but we got a long way to go.

I read that as, do you think we will make 1 tournament and not win the conference in the next 4 years? Yes, I think we can accomplish that.

So we will make the NCAA tournament within KA's first 4 years? I agree.

You also think we'll finish as high as 2nd in the SEC regular season in the first 4 years? I don't think so.

You also think we'll finish as high as 2nd in the SEC tournament in the first 4 years? I don't think that either.

Not sure if that makes it clearer.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this team made the tournament next year.

Damn. Hope you're right. I would be shocked. Pleasantly shocked but still shocked.

Admittedly in an optimistic mood.

But they came close to knocking off some good teams last year.

Those heartbreakers turn to W's and the momentum goes in the other direction.

I expect far less off the court distractions.

The Fuller mess and the lack of cohesion with the players had to have a huge impact.

Better team + better environment + little better luck and I think results could be drastically different.

I agree. But conversely, they came close to losing to some shitty teams. I hope the L's turn into W's instead of the other way around.

I do think this team has a chance to be close to .500 this season though I cannot find a schedule (I don't know if it has been released yet). Having the three of Wright, Gant, and Gill-Cesar in for a full offseason and weight room I think will make an impact. When it comes to recruiting you do not have to get 5*s. Keep having deep classes with 4*s and you can build a consistently good to great team. We were screwed over by Haiths inability to recruit. Once we lost Andersons guys, we lost. Hopefully we continue to grow and Anderson turns out to be a great coach. Winning will solve everything. But if we are not at least competitive this year and a tourney team by the 2016-2017 season I will give up hope.

Missed this. Apparently another Fulford player that has ruled Mizzou out.

Haith could recruit. I just don't think he could coach. He did get Jabari, Clarkson, Oriakhi and others. Maybe not great with the high schoolers. I would agree with that.

That is more of what I was meaning. He got plenty of big time transfers but when those guys left the cupboard was left empty because of his inability to get high school talent.

I'd agree with that completely. And certainly either was recruiting high school kids who weren't very good or wasn't good at even keeping the ones he did recruit. See Janko and NWC.

Haith was a terrible recruiter. He had no clue how to identify talent that would fit needs/systems. Just because he got some talented players didn't make them good recruits for Missouri.

His shortcomings in recruiting became glaringly obvious from his first to second seasons. When he inherited players from the previous staff, he took them at face value and coached to their obvious strengths. He had nothing else to go with.

When it came to his recruits, he coached them to try and be what he wanted them to become instead of what they were. It just didn't fit/work well enough given the talent levels. He tries to do too much with his own guys.

Yea Haith didn't understand team building. His players didn't compliment each other.

Haith recruiting a boat load of transfers didn't make him a good recruiter. He had a rap as a good recruiter from Texas. Not a difficult thing to do. Probably one of the 10 easiest schools to recruit to and a redic. talent base to pick from. I also think the Shapiro thing hurt him, but whose fault is that? We never should have hired him honestly. His first year I put on the players and Ernie Nestor more than anything. 6 Transfers on 1 roster to me shows a lack of recruiting...We'll see what happens at Tulsa, I suspect not much.

Not making excuses for Haith, but KA didn't coach the players he had last year to their strengths and it showed as the season went on they looked worst instead of steadily improving.
