Piscotty is the real deal.

Which adds to the insanity of the Heyward acquistion. We threw away two big trading chips in Miller and Jenkins for a one year rental. So stupid.

I agree in hindsight. At least this far. The young man really has a very mature approach at the plate.

Grichuk and Piscotty look to be fixtures in the Cardinals outfield.

Its a very small sample size but I see it as well.

However, this team is really in a "win it now" window and after the Taveras incident I understand the trade.

Wish it didnt happen and one of Miller/Martinez could have been packaged up to fill other needs.

For what would you trade these guys for? Miller was pissed about Joe Kelly trade and a cancer in the clubhouse. Carlos and Wacha are the future top of the rotation guys. What position would you trade for?

First base is the only question mark and that is going to hard to find a team to trade a top controllable hitter at that position.

Piscotty should have been playing first base in the minors. This off season that is where he should be working out.

I almost can't take this intellectual epidemic anymore.

There are many good reasons Miller was chosen as the trade chip over Wacha and Martinez.

Miller was the one to go, and probably a year sooner than he did.

The point is the package of Miller and Jenkins, and now Kaminsky could have fetched us a legit established player still under contract, or a highly thought of young player with years of cost control.

We should have targeted young, top rated SS's and CF's.

I know Profar hasn't taken off, injuries have held him back. But I'd bet we could have gotten a player like that.

Miller, Jenkins, Kaminsky have all exited the organization, and nothing will be here to show for it. That's not a very sustainable thing to do. You have to have more to show for those kinds of players leaving the organization.

Since there is a weird affection for Matt Adams by our front office, he'll be at 1st base. But, I see Piscotty platooning there vs LH pitching, as well as playing regularly in the outfield.

I still have no problem with the Heyward trade. JHey has been a breath of fresh air out in right this season.

Doesn't do one thing great, but does everything well. I think they'll sign him and get his best years, so the trade will be moot. Miller is sort of an enigma, and I don't think he was going to stick here anyway. That was obvious during the WS.

I think he'll be a good pitcher in ATL, but I don't think he would have been one here, if that makes any sense.

The Kaminsky deal is and will be a giant head scratcher. Mo panicked, he should have realized what he had in Piscotty. I get not thinking he was ready over the winter, but making a move like that at the deadline screamed of panic move.

They may sign him.

But with Grichuk and Piscotty proving to be ready at little cost, why pay 20+ million a year for a guy to take their place and really not do anything better than they can.

I'd understand signing him if he was a true CFer and or a legit basher, but he's not. He's a RFer and not a terror for pitchers. He's just a pretty good hitter, he's not a power threat.

Miller had to go. History of an attitude. Had to issue a no shake rule with the best catcher in baseball. Wacha and Martinez have more upside. Many reasons Shelby was the one to be traded.

But cost controlled high end pitching talent is the most coveted asset in the sport. We gave up Miller and Jenkins for a player in his walk year. That's absurd. We had a golden ticket. A rare abundance of mlb starting pitching and pitching prospects, we should have flipped that abundance for something with more of a guarantee than a soon to be free agent.

It's hilarious that Mo had a piece in the Post Dispatch the week of the deadline explaining that he wouldn't make the deal he made a couple years ago moving the reliever Carpenter for a useless rental.

Then he ships Kaminsky for a left handed Mark Reynolds.

He deserves serious heat for that move.

3B - Carpenter
1B - Piscotty
LF - Holliday
CF - Grichuk
RF - Heyward
SS - Peralta
C - Molina
2B - Wong
P - Waino, Wacha, Martinez, Garcia, Lynn

Yeaaaaa, why are people complaining about trading Miller?

That lineup is stacked

Because talented, cost controlled pitching is the best asset in baseball. We gave up two big trading chips for a free agent. We didn't need Miller anymore, but he should have helped us get something more.

I hope Lynn's traded while he has value. He's on borrowed time right now.

Damn this team is fun to watch. The never say die Cards. The Nats helped us some by making key mistakes but I really don't care.

I love how they are playing like they are chasing the division lead instead of playing like they are being chased.

No worries. Just giving Martinez and now Wacha a little extra rest heading into the playoffs. Don't be surprised if this isn't the only time. Martinez already scheduled to throw this weekend.

I hope so.

I don't mind it, as long as that's all it is. I forgot they shelved CMart the other night too.

Was at the game last night.

Didn't realize they scratched Wacha until I saw Lyons walk out to the mound.

Disappoint.

And no kiss cam, Killz. Gave the crew behind home plate a slip with my seats, but they didn't come through.

Wish I would have known. Would have bought you a $50 beer.

I had heard on my way to the game. Was disappointed too but Lyons was pretty solid the first time through the lineup. Just can't show hitters something different after that and tends to get knocked around a bit.

I bet that is a tasty beer.

Man, it seems like they almost cost that much a piece. Been awhile since I was the one on the hook for all the in game treats.

That just isnt true anymore. Not trying to be rude but there is a "pitching" surplus in MLB right now coming out of the steroid era. I mean, the numbers are there for folks to parse.
