I have a basketball recruiting story as well.
I coached Jason Kidd in CYO basketball. The first game I ever saw him play, he scored 40 pts and threw this ridiculous 3/4 court bounce pass hitting a guy in stride as he was going in for a lay-up.
After the game, I said, "Jason, you would be crazy to go any place other than Cal." He said, "I know."
He was 13. I rested my case. He went to Cal.
