Lane Kiffin wouldn't ever come to State, it's not flashy enough for him.

Franklin wouldn't be too bad of a hire but if you can't win in the Big 10 with Penn State, I doubt you'll be able to win in the West in Starkville.

That list is just bad, there has to be some other coach y'all could get out there that's better than that rag tag group

quote:

Kendal Briles - OC Baylor

I could see this working, I mean you already know his father taught him everything he knows about his offensive philosophy. Do you think he would leave Baylor though?

quote:

Dan Enos- OC Arkansas

I'm pretty positive he just signed a new contract or extended his contract this offseason. I doubt it would be a big buyout, the thing that scares me about Enos is I think Arkansas has been getting to much credit for beating an LSU team that has virtually quit on the season after the Bama loss. They have had some really bad offensive showings the last few seasons he has been there. You can blame that on the talent in place but do you really think State is more talented than Arkansas? I think that at best they are on the same level talent wise with Arky.

What would y'all think about hiring Les Miles? Serious question, the guy just lost his job at LSU because he wouldn't change but what if that was a reality check for him? As long as Miles hired a modern OC and actually let him run the offense I think Miles could do wonders for state. He would hands down our recruit Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss.

PJ Fleck is going to be the next big name in the coaching world.

No we are not hiring Miles.

I think Notre Dame would be smart to hire Miles. With his Louisiana connections he could steal a lot of talent out of the state. I am sure a lot of Catholic kids in Louisiana would love to have a Notre Dame education.

Seriously what do y'all have against Miles? He lost to y'all 1 time in 11 years? Or was it 10 shite I can't remember. Okay though let's stop talking about Miles. I honestly don't think y'all understand what you really need at State.

YOU NEED A KNOCKOUT RECRUITER. Someone who would lock down Mississippi for you, Hugh has been slaughtering y'all for Blue Chips in Mississippi the past few years. For Christ sake Mullen let A.J. Brown from Starkville High get away from him and goto OM because of his lack of recruiting. That is just hands down inexcusable. I think a knockout recruiter with two solid coordinators could do wonders at State. You will never be a real threat until you start stealing recruits from LSU and Alabama.

Even locking down the state of MS is not enough really. It's just not a big enough state for two schools. LSU has the advantage of being the only game in town.

LSU very rarely will pull a Mississippi kid, it's very hard. I think we pull Cam Akers this year but if we do, I'd be very surprised. I guarantee if you show recruits that your building something special at Mississippi State they will stay in Mississippi and rep their State.

MSU will never have a knockout recruiter with two solid coordinators.

Can't afford it.

We have to rely on LSU making a bad hire like Orgeron and Saban to retire. We can really only compete in other people's down years.

Look I know y'all like to frick with me about being a "recruiting guru" and shite but I really do know people in the know. Tom Herman will be the next coach at LSU, it's already in the making. Honestly Alabama won't be like they are now once Saban leaves. They will never be happy with the coach they hire and they will spin into death. LSU will once again be the power in the West.

I don't think that's true though, look at Ole Miss. they hire a good coach and good recruiter and they have been solid the past few seasons with Hugh at the helm. I think you're underplaying State's potential with the right moves.

What are you talking about? Recruiting guru? Did you mean to post that on another board?

No, everyone always makes fun of me because I use to post on LSU's recruiting board with info. I thought you had joined in on it. My bad, well anyway forget that part.

You bring up Miles again, I'll slap you. Miles had the fortunate position of being in a state where every kid wants to play LSU. MS isn't like that.

Not really. Hugh has been knocking out of the park with out of state recruits.

So Cam Akers is going to LSU?

So you think Saban is retiring soon? I'd almost guarantee, LSU will fire/run off/leaves their next coach before that.

Who would you want? We can't get the big names like Petrino.

Which is why we shouldn't fire Mullen. All the names you listed would be a step down.

I have no clue, just what has been said as of late. I don't do recruiting anymore.

No way in heck with LSU acquiring Tom Herman this offseason. As for Saban, I have no clue when he will retire or leave. One can only hope it is soon

I'm not ready to fire Mullen yet. You make him lose his boy Hevesy and see what happens next year. Then you fire him if things don't get better.

The only two on that list that are enticing to me are Kiffin and Briles. And add old Briles too.

Miles would definitely recruit better than Mullen, and I'm beginning to think he'd win as many games. That is, if he had the right staff in place. He's a players coach and easy to get along with. Miles wouldn't be in my top 5 right now, though. I'm not sure I'd want to coach in the SEC again, if I were him.

I've talked to a couple of former players that said Mullen rubs too many people the wrong way and he- quote "doesn't have the leadership qualities of a head coach." Another former player that lives in my neighborhood can't stand him. He seems to be hit or miss with the players.
