I'm not as convinced as you guys we automatically get Dobbs. He's been committed to Arizona State since June. We have gone after him hard and he never says anywhere near the nice stuff about us that Kailo says about OM.

I hope we get him but I feel he's a tough pull.

Likely Tenn or NC State

And I though you don't follow recruiting until February

Its actually going to turn out that we fricked ourselves taking a commitment from Sandberg to begin with. Back in the Summer I'm fairly positive we could have gotten a commitment from Staver, Kincade or Dobbs. But we were intent on only taking ONE QB and Sandberg was our guy. Heck, Kincade committed to OM even after they already had Buchanan. Now we are in scramble mode and on the outside looking in with likely less than a 50/50 shot at flipping Dobbs and virtually no shot at any other decent SEC QB prospect. Sandberg is ending up costing us much than just himself with his likely defection to baseball. Outside of Prescott I would call Mullen's QB recruiting since being at MSU an epic fail.

I really don't but I do read threads on here and that's why I asked. I do know recruiting is very important to the success of any program but life is too short for me to try to keep up with all that when I can just read engie's post.

Yesterday I looked at who signed and I checked all the sites. They each have us all over the map in rankings.

Nobody has really acted like they thought we were definitely getting him so I don't know where you "read" that people are convinced. Also, this news should help Dobbs feel better about switching.

I'm not sure I can agree with that sentiment. An epic fail?

ok- let me clarify. My statement was in no way a prediction or a claim to having inside info on Dobbs. Flipping Dobbs is what we have to do now that it looks more and more like Sandberg may be bypassing college.

Or we may just put Golden on scholarship. It is nice having a 3-star walk-on. And with us recruiting his brother or whatever-that looks more and more likely

Waste of scholarship IMO. He's already here as a walk-on we are limited on numbers. I honestly don't see this kid ever taking a meaningful snap.

If I were our staff I'd straight up tell Dobbs that they dont expect Sandberg ever coming to State and sell Dobbs on the fact that he will have the chance to compete for the starting job after his RS FR year.

I like the idea of offering a greyshirt to Sandberg

Win/Win situation

He's a 3* dual threat qb that everyone says works hard and has picked up the offense pretty quickly. Exactly how many snaps have you seen him play to make you think it would be a waste of scholarship? How exactly do you know? Also, giving him the scholly might be the key to getting his brother. If he's good enough for a scholarship, they need to give it to him.

Awesome idea. I'm sure they haven't thought of that.

Im just saying if we "FLIP" Dobbs or possible get Sandberg to campus no way I give Golden a scholly. JMO. The kid isn't an SEC QB. If you think we can win in the SEC with a walk-on QB you are on crack.

A) What happens when Golden's brother signs elsewhere because we wouldn't put Golden on a scholly and then Golden transfers?

B) We won 5 with Tyson Lee- a 2-star nobody against the nation's toughest schedule. Golden was a 3-star guy. You dont know if he can play or not- you just dont like the fact he is a walk-on. He chose to walk-on at State rather than accept a scholly somewhere else. People tend to forget that

The reason he is showing us so much interest is we have a plan B for him if he doesn't qualify (which is a possibility) JUCO/Hargrave

Golden may turn into RG3, but im not wanting to put our future QB on his shoulders if Dak is injured. I hope he proves me wrong but I think our program is to the point where we are better than having to settle for a Walk-on QB. Or even comparing him to Tyson Lee, we won 5 games with Lee at QB, but Anthony Dixon had a lot to do with it.
