Had some rules set for him in November that he has not followed trough on.

Coach Ray ain't here to play.
quote:

"We had a zero tolerance policy with Quantel, and he failed to live up to the obligations we had outlined for him,” Ray said. “We wish him the best for his future endeavors.”

Denson was a big man we sorely needed.
He had a really good offer sheet. Too bad he couldn't keep his head on straight.

That hurts but maybe Ray can pull in someone similar from another JUCO.

Guess we'll have to rely on Ndoye to step up. Can't say I'm mad at Rick though. Kid committed then decommitted from Missouri. Sounds like a headcase.

Looking at 247 we are looking at 3 or 4 other similar type players. 2 JUCO's from EMCC and a high school kid from Jackson area.

I'm all about second-chances, but I'm glad Rick set this one free when he determined he wasn't willing to cooperate. The kid has been arrested and is on probation, so the drop is probably related to that.

After cursing Renardo Sydney every time he walked up court I stand behind Ray on a cut / dry decision like this every time..

Y'all may praise Ray now for doing the right thing but losing Denson is a MAJOR blow. Unless we find somebody to fill his spot our front line is really going to be thin next year.

Denson was our best recruit and I was penciling him in as a starter.

Gonna be a Rough next 2-3 years unless Ray gets to recruiting like he should. Hard work and discipline only go so far without any major talent.

You are likely WAY too young to remember the Final 4. It was one of my favorite moments as a kid. I also was a student when we won the sec tourney in 2002 and were runner up in Nola in 2003 (one of the best weekends in my life)

It just pains me to see Mississippi State basketball struggle so bad and be at the bottom of the SEC. Hate Stans all you want, he won games and recruited great talent to Starkville.

I was 5 when we went to final 4. I don't remember much but I do remember my mom hollering up and down about us making it there and watching that Syracuse game.

I understand your sentiments, It hurts me watching it too. One as someone aspiring to coach basketball on this level one day and two just as a MSU basketball fan, but sometimes "the juice is worth the squeeze". Stans may have won games but in the end he was his own downfall not Sidney not anyone but him. He brought this pain and anguish upon this program not Ray, not the fans wanting a change, not Scott Stricklin. In time we will be good again, I see the makings of a very good coach in Ray. It's odd watching someone actually coach on the sidelines. All in all, I'm excited about our future. Ray may not be your choice as coach but in the end it's his job and I choose to support a man who won't put up with the same problems that caused Rick Stansbury's demise.

Bundy, it goes both ways. Talent only goes so far unless it's disciplined. We were Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight good last year, maybe better, but we ended up losing round one of the NIT. Denson robbed his own fricking coach. We don't need a less talented Renardo Sidney.

I can't figure out why Ray offered Denson to begin with since he knew he had baggage and a past criminal history.

Ray seems a little over the top with his disciplining methods of players IMO. We should still have Kristers Zeidsks and Shaun Smith on the team. I know people who know them both personally and he said Ray kicked them off the team for something football players only get a slap on the wrist for.

Multiple violations of the substance abuse policy is the correct term for Shaun and Kristers.

He obviously offered Denson on the stipulation that he get his life in order. And apparently until this point Denson had.

Football players, due to the prestige of the sport, get away with more than any other athletes in other sports. This is at every school. The pressure to win in football is so great that it makes it very hard to discipline for petty things.

For example you can suspend a player for 5 games in basketball and it won't hurt too much, you can't do the same in football.

I propose that Bundy not be allowed to post about Stansbury for a year or automatic bannage from Cdawg.

Seconded. He is obviously trolling. No way he can be that stupid. He makes me want to break my comp/phone anytime I read on of his posts about Stans.

No

Football players fail a drug test- they miss football games. That's why we will always have some players suspended to begin the season under Mullen. Remember Chris Relf sitting in the middle of the year in Mullen's first season? All we had was Tyson Lee and a redshirting Tyler Russell left.

Those two guys failed multiple drug tests- and Ray has to show he aint bullshittin in this 1st season- that's how you change the culture of the program and get rid of the stink that Stands had let creep in.

We will have a winning season next year. 10-2 or 11-1 in OOC thanks to easir scheduling and then 7-11 in the SEC equals 18-12 or 17-13
