I was looking back at the stats from Saturday. Have we acknowledged that Fitz' performance Saturday would have been above average even for Dak? He completed 65.5% of his passes and went for like 360 total yards. That's almost on par with Dak's senior season. I'm not saying he's as good as Dak, after all it was South Carolina and we are yet to see how good that defense is or isn't, but it was a damn fine start.

I think we've been spoiled, my opinion of his day Saturday was kind of good not great. However, in retrospect, he did far better than we could have expected.

He made some stupid passes...but overall it was a really nice first performance against a probably pretty lousy opponent. He is much faster than I realized and 195 yards from a QB is pretty gaudy against anyone.

Who wasn't impressed when he was blowing past those guys down the sidelines? I bet he shocked the hell out of those 2 SC defensive backs.

Looks slow, deceptively fast, reminds me more of Matt Jones, of ArKansas, than John Bond.

He's just got to learn to put some touch on the ball. He rockets every throw. Some of those he has got to put some air under to give the receiver a chance to make a play.

I thought that we did some growing up during that game. We were lost in the headlights for a little while.

Fitz was running very tentative for some reason. His passing decisions were pretty good, but he was a bit off. That is fixable. He had a couple of home run ball TDs that were barely missed. If he can learn to hit those, watch out. Everything else will open up.

For a drive at least, Ashton Shumpert was exactly what we expected him to be for the past few years. I hope he can build off of that.

The plays on the last drive mystify me.

Shumpert ran well but the very last play where Williams got drilled to China by Key, he whiffed on that protection.

A Williams should be starting with Holloway as 3rd down at this point. I believe the coaches are trying to figure this team out as much as the players are. It pretty obvious against USA, we should have been pounding between the Tackles with our bigger backs.

I actually liked what we did with the big package in there. I am sure that we will see more of that. The O-line may actually be pretty good when all is said and done if they stay healthy.

As posted earlier by Moi, lots of local & nat'l stations carrying the Massachusetts game Over the Air &/or on cable, as well as streaming on WatchESPN.

Clarion-Liar on line has free article with more info...

When I lived in Kalifornia (PRK), had a gf who had attended UMass.
