Yep- they are making it tougher for Ray, all the while still bitching about his recruiting Gotta love them being hypocritical as frick huh Bundy?

I see no difference in that than a fan ho holds coach "A" to a set of standards and Coach "B" to a different set.

Both are being hypocritical

Oh so you are telling me that what a 19 year old kid says about a school he attended a year ago might not actually be accurate? Wow. Weird how hundreds of old farts on the internet can't figure that out.

I'm pretty sure what he stated was 100% accurate. The stories posted are not at odds with eachother as much as people would like to make them out to be.

Once Ray has a couple of years to rebuild what Stands burnt down- then he absolutely will be held to the same standard.

It took Stands 4 years to make an NCAA Tourney when he took over- and he took over a pretty damn good group of players. Tyrone Washington was drafted and Tang Hamilton signed a 10 day contract or two in the NBA- and that was just two of them he inherited.

Ray is not even close to that. He has taken over a team without a returning starter- with the two top returning players being hurt most of the year.

I made this comparision and I see Paul Jones did also- Ray and Cohen are very much alike in the situations they took over. I think Ray will build it back but we just have to suffer the ugliness in the short term.

If you are going to bash Stans and place the blame on him for everything that went wrong, then you should be willing to do the same to the current coach. Why not stand on the same ground? Why not hold the same standard?

Way too early to tell one way or the other. If anything, I am happy with Ray so far.

The AD created the issue. The AD put Ray at a disadvantage.

Stans did not burn down the program. He left the program with the following:

1- Johnson..
2- Lewis..
3- D Smith 4 *
4- S Smith
5- Steele
6- Kisters
7- Hood 5 *

In coming under Stans:

1- Sword... 3 or 4 * current player
2- Thomas.. 3 or 4 * current player
3- Ware.. 4 * Current player

Our most productive current players are his.

He was not left with no talent and no players. It's listed above.

All I have been saying is simply stop with the bashing of Stans. It serves no purpose other than to ease the feelings of a bad year and a rebuilding of our program. You know it and I know it.

It's the past successes of Stans (all those 20 plus wins.. all those battles with UK) that will be the selling point for future recruits. When they walk in and see the accomplishments hanging up, it was Stans that made that happen.

Currently, Ray has nothing to brag on but that.

I think he has them playing hard! We will see what he can do in recruiting over the next 2 years. I honestly don't think he gets more than that without huge strides in wins.

We'll just have to always disagree on that

quote:

He left the program with the following:

1- Johnson..- yep
2- Lewis..- injured in Game 9 for the season
3- D Smith 4 *-no-Deville was removed because he has severe mental problems . And that is Stansbury's fault for not finding that out before signing him. Ray had nothing to do with Deville leaving
4- S Smith- failed 3 drug tests- warned after 2nd failure he would be booted if he failed another
5- Steele - has been injured or suspended over half the season
6- Kisters- failed 3 drug tests- warned after 2nd failure he would be booted if he failed another
7- Hood 5 * - we've covered this one

As you can clearly see- Ray was left with very little and has had bad luck with injuries to top it off

The boosters put the AD at a disadvantage and made him keep Stans too long which made him put Ray at a disadvantage. This whole thing could have easily been avoided but the stans enthusiasts phucked it up for our entire fanbase.

Then put your little keyboard away and let one of your many terrible threads die and you won't have to see it. There's no reason to talk about him period.

One HUGE difference between Ray and Cohen.

Cohen can RECRUIT, Ray not so much so.

Also Cohen is a MSU guy, played here, won here, said State is his destination job. Ray had never been to Starkville before he was hired, and likely would bolt for the first job that offered him.

One question for you Coach34

Three years from now if we are only winning 17-20 games and being on the bubble of only the NIT and not the NCAA are you going to start calling for Ray's head like you did with Stansbury for the past 4 years.

It was happening on the rant. That's why I started this one here. It's not like I started a thread to say stop bashing a former coach when nobody was doing it. They were.

Obviously.

Jesus Christ people quit trying to make this "personal". Like Coach HATED Stansbury as a person and LOVES Ray. He gets the benefit of the doubt for a grace period to get his system in place. Once that happens, the same rules apply to him that applied to Stansbury.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Link?

You sure as HELL didn't think that Cohen's first 2.8 years... But hey, let's use revisionist history now, Al -- no one would expect any less from you.

What does this have to do with anything? Zero and was fricking stupid to even bring up. Why don't we fire Mullen for this dumb arse reason?

What "ties" did Rick Stansbury have to Starkville when Richard Williams gave him a chance to be an assistant? Oh, really, none? The hell you say. Surely, he'll bolt at the first opportunity**

Makes the world go 'round. No problems with that.

Deville was not removed. He transfered. To my knowledge, his health issue is over. He hs not missed a game, he is averaging 16 pts per game in only 6 minutes od playing time per game average. He's 40+% 3 point shooter too.

4- S Smith- failed 3 drug tests- warned after 2nd failure he would be booted if he failed another

What?? Ray can't control his players?? WTC MAN! See how that works?

5- Steele - has been injured or suspended over half the season

Still was talent left by Stans.

6- Kisters- failed 3 drug tests- warned after 2nd failure he would be booted if he failed another

Still was talent left by Stans, and it's not Stans fault Ray can't control his players.

7- Hood 5 * - we've covered this one

We did indeed. Stans here, Hood here, Deville here..etc. Not Stans fault Ray could not hang on to him.

Nice how you skipped over the recruits committed to Stans for a year prior to Ray getting here...

AGAIN... Just drop the bashing of Stans and let's move on.

1. Deville was told not to return. He had no choice- just like Sidney. Deville has some serious shite going on with him. I hope he is doing better- hell, he had to put into an institution during last season.

2. Where is he playing to only average 6 minutes per game?

Engie already answered- but of course. Just like I would have been on Mullen or Cohen had they not started winning. But let's revisit:

I said Crooms was awful from Day 1- and he was

I said Stands had no discipline and was a shitty floor coach since the day I got on a message board in Oct, 2003- and aside from 2002-2005, that was blatantly obvious.

I said Mullen would do a good job- so far so good

I ALWAYS said that Cohen would turn the program around- even during that 2nd losing season when people like you Bundy said maybe he wasnt the guy for State.

I've got a pretty good track record on our coaches

From what I've seen to this point- I think Rick Ray is a good coach. What nobody knows is if he can recruit or not to Miss State.

Lastly, the most over looked issue was the process by our AD. Like it or not, the issue falls on him CURRENTLY. He made the decisions that got us here.

How does it feel for you and Bundy to be the only two not ok with this. And Bundy will waiver next season when Ray has his own kids in slaying motherfrickers left and right.

Gone are the days of keeping a coach 22 years just because he gives you a Bipolar ride to either the NCAA tournament or the NIT every two years or so.
